1991 Jeep Cherokee Laredo 4.0L I-6 from North America

Summary:

I love Jeeps!

Faults:

This Jeep is amazing. It is my third Jeep; all three have had the 4.0L I-6 and 4x4. They have all been extremely reliable. They aren't the best of MPG's, but I don't really care, I love my Jeeps.

General Comments:

I have had 3 Jeeps, they have all been great. I got my recent one just a few days ago; it's 20 years old and only has 109,000 miles, and is completely perfect, inside and out.

All three of my Jeeps have had the same 4.0L motor and 4x4. I have had no major trouble with any of them, and I am so glad to have another. It really is a Jeep thing, and no one would understand. I think it's either you love them, or don't like them. They have their own ways; they sound different and drive different than anything else. I love them, and plan to always have one.

It has plenty of power, I like the rugged looks, I like the go anywhere nature, I like the way that even though it's 20 years old, it still has a classic iconic look that started the SUV craze.

Best car ever

Faults:

Fuel pump went out twice in ten years. No biggie.

General Comments:

I love this car. Best ever made. I take care of it; that's why it doesn't break down or have any problems while having 200k on it.

1991 Jeep Cherokee Laredo from North America

Summary:

After 10 years of ownership, I believe that these older Jeeps are one of the toughest vehicles ever

Faults:

Had to replace water pump and power steering hose at 160,000 miles.

Engine rear main seal has been leaking for the last 20,000 miles. Cost to repair is $350.00-$400.00.

General Comments:

My Jeep has been the best overall vehicle I have ever owned out of about 15 vehicles.

The 4.0 inline 6 has plenty of get up and go, even after 210,000 miles.

The interior, seats, window, and door lock controls have held up very well. The drivetrain of this Jeep has been exceptional with no issues whatsoever.

The one downside to this vehicle is the rather small back doors, which makes entry/exit for adults not so easy.

1991 Jeep Cherokee Limited 4.0 litre from North America

Summary:

I think this is an all round great vehicle

Faults:

Water pump calfed at 296,000 k and had the 4x4 shaft rebuilt at the same k's.

Seats are leather and wearing badly, but not a big deal.

Some rust on both doors, but the vehicle runs great. It's the straight 6 4 litre.

General Comments:

I have had this Jeep since 07, and it is the 1st 4wd drive vehicle I have owned. We have had a lot of fun with it in the snow, but have not really had any tests in the muck YET..

1991 Jeep Cherokee Laredo 4.0L i6 from North America

Summary:

Couldn't beat it if you tried

Faults:

The only things that have gone wrong with the car are the water pump and the starter.

The battery just now shot craps, and from what I understand it was the original.

General Comments:

I love love love my Jeep. 291000 miles and still starts in a heartbeat.

The A/C doesn't work, but I don't care because everything else does.

If you treat it right, Jeeps will take care of you. Believe that. It is a Jeep thing and you would not understand.

1991 Jeep Cherokee Sport 4.0L from North America

Summary:

Very dependable and trustworthy

Faults:

The water pump 4 times in 18 years. Also had to replace the headliner.

General Comments:

I purchased my Jeep Cherokee new in 1991 and have driven it from Michigan to Monterrey, Mexico. It now has 231,000 miles on it and has never failed to start. The only things I have replaced except for normal wear in the 18 years I have owned it is the water pump (4 times) and the headliner. Other than that it has served my well. I have no complaints. If you do your regularly scheduled oil changes they will last a long time. I am hoping to drive my Jeep for another 18 years.
