2003 Kia Sorento LX V6 from North America

Summary:

Terrible, would never own another Kia EVER

Faults:

Crankbolt and pulley went at 95,000kms.

Engine blew at 100,000 km, and everything else was dying at different times.

General Comments:

If it wasn't for all the problems, this car would be nice for the room.

2003 Kia Sorento from North America

Summary:

Could be a nice car if the maker would stand behind it!

Faults:

This car hasn't really given us a problem, except for the paint. It is chipping all over and is going to have to be repainted. We should have taken it back when it first started, but didn't, so that is our fault. But a new car should not have chipped paint.

We were called to get a bolt replaced due to a recall. We took it to the local dealer and they did not have the part in yet. They promised to call when it came in, but they didn't. When we ask why they never called, they explained that they were too busy. How is that for service.

Needless to say, our family will never buy another Kia product. They should "man-up" and fix these problems even if there are several miles on the vehicle.

Now the inside lights are blinking when the headlights are on. Could be a fuse, but not sure.

ABS light stays on most all the time.

2003 Kia Sorento from North America

Faults:

This vehicle has been nothing but problems and expense since I got it.

It had many major repairs under warranty, so I bought an extended warranty that has now run out.

Now the vehicle is only six years old and the gas tank has to be replaced because of rust, the exhaust system is also shot. The car is not even worth the value of the repairs.

I phoned Kia head office. They don't care and all staff seem pre-programed to tell you that they will not assist with the expense of required repair work. A gas tank should not rust out in six years.

The alternator, and battery were replaced.

The block had to be taken apart and seals were replaced.

The brakes have required work several times, and never seem to be working properly.

The electrical system keeps shorting out, and I have to replace the brake fuse almost monthly.

The heater went and the coolant system had to be repaired. This is only part of the list. I would never buy Kia again. It is junk!

2003 Kia Sorento LX V6 from North America

Summary:

Money Pit

Faults:

Had to replace engine at 90k...

Headlights constantly need to be changed...

Rotors are constantly having to be turned.

Had to replace the fly wheel TWICE.

Clock does not work.

Check engine light is on.

I could go on and on...

General Comments:

I love my 2003 Sorento, but I do not love the headaches I have had.

My engine had to be replaced at 90k. One month prior I had a recall performed on this car for the crank shaft bolt... one month later my engine blew. I called Kia and told them my car was in perfect shape before the recall work was performed. They disagreed. So I replaced the motor (used of course), which set me back over 6k that includes rental car and labor... I argued with Kia that it was their fault. The service mgr told me that the '03 were having problems with a bolt coming off the motor and getting sucked in and damaging the engine. So needless to say after about 5 months Kia finally issued me a refund of just shy of 6k. It WAS their fault because I got the recall letter in the mail stating that the bolt was coming loose.....I was RIGHT. Thankfully I saved my receipts and submitted them and got the refund.

I do like my car, but there is ALWAYS something that needs to be fixed on it... it is a money pit!!!
