I have a 1994 B 4000 automatic transmission truck that needs to have the transmission removed to replace a seal. How do you take the trans out?

I just bought a 98 Mazda B4000. It runs great, but the door ajar light is driving me crazy. And the dome light will not go out when it's on, whether the truck is running or not. I'll drive down the road, and if I go below 5mph, it will come back on - "seriously". For now I just yanked the fuse, but the whole cluster is out. Now I noticed the switch for this is in the locking mechanism on the door lock. I'm wondering if I get into the door, if I could cut the wires, or cut them and connect them and do without the damn door ajar. WHO THOUGHT OF THIS concept all together? Write me if you can help.

I have a 2001 B4000 and found that if the door ajar light is on.. slam the 1/2 door and then close the regular door... this will fix the problem.

I have a 2000 B4000 4x4 TLE and have had some of the problems with the door light and some problems with plugs fouling out and rough running. But, all in all, I couldn't be happier with this truck. I bought it new in 2000. It has 152,000 miles on it and about 65,000 of those miles were pulling a 3500lb. trailer in tow all over the US including a 10,000 mile round trip from Austin, TX to Anchorage AK. I change the oil every 3-5000 miles, 4th set of tires, new belts, plugs etc. Never any major repairs. The dash lights have burned out on one side and the ABS light has been lit for 3 years, but it brakes fine. Thanks for the heads up on the other issues. Good luck.

B4000 Mazda 4X4 Door Ajar light won't go off and the dome light stays on for awhile after closing the door. Does anyone know what causes this problem? Sounds like it's a design fault in this vehicle. If you got it solved somewhere please post.

I've replaced the switch on the one driver side door but it didn't solve the problem.

I have a 1998 b4000 4 wheel drive that I bought used about 2002 and it has been absolutely (knock on wood) terrific with one exception... the door ajar light stays on or doesn't come on... very intermittent. With that exception, this is likely the best vehicle I own.

I have a Mazda B4000 and the door light problem is easy to solve. The issue is where the SEAT BELT attaches to the bottom of the suicide door (1/2 door). The belt attachement 'swivels' and can end up pointing downwards. This prevents the door from closing properly.

Open the small door, make sure the seatbelt is swivelled up and then close it. Close the main door and Voila!

They should print this in the manual!!!

I bought a 2001 Mazda B4000 dual sport 4x2, 5 speed manual a month ago with 161 thousand kms. Airbag light now comes on and flashes all the time, and it's been hard going into gear lately, no matter how far the clutch is down. Then driving in 4th gear under light acceleration, the tranny went bang and started to grind, now I can hardly get into any gears and fourth jumps out.

My advice is stay away from them. Oh and to mention it's horrible on gas.

I bought a 2001 B4000 SE standard in 2002 with 13,000 Km. It now has 191,000 and is running well,

It has always been a little hard to start (sometimes 3 cranks). I often run it up 5000 rpm as 1st gear is so low (it hits valve float at 150kph). The engine is still solid. Have replaced clutch, lower ball joints, shocks. An additive was needed to keep shifting smooth. High rpm seems to keep it running.

Changed oil 4000 Km; again I used an additive after 100,000. Three sets of tires.

I am half way through a 2400Km return trip through the Rockies. Good little truck, even though the seatbelts gave up, and the brakes even when new, are not good in panic stop; be prepared.

Dash lights half out, and occasionally warning lights come on and go out. I will sell soon as it costs too much for fuel.

On the dome light/ door ajar issue, just take some WD 40 and spray it in the door latch.

Work the door a few times by closing and opening the door, and the issue will stop.

The switch gets dirty.

Has anyone replaced the dash lights yet?

How bad of a job is it?

I bought a B4000 4x4 V6 Automatic in Jan 2010.

The dome light does not turn off. It had to be removed.

I only get 325KM/tank of regular gas. This is deplorable for a small truck.

I wanted to use the truck to haul my boat and trailer for fishing, but who can afford $150.00/week on fuel?

RAK.

I got a 2001 B4000 3 years ago. I'm seeing that I have a lot in common with other owners with the same truck problems. Dome light, 4x4 module, gas mileage (V-6), and now the A/C compressor clutch broke a rivet, which in turn caused the fuse to blow, which in turn caused the computer (on the same circuit!) to puke, in turn resulting in an ultra rich fuel air mixture and fouled the catalytic converter badly. (|-(

I'm not a happy camper here. I'll never make this mistake again.

BTW, I tried a bunch of things mentioned in other posts about the dome light issue, and nothing works, other than removing the bulb.

2001 B4000 dome light issue... It's the half doors in the back. I opened the door and cut the wire; make sure that you are cutting the wire to the door switch and not your speaker wire. I did this 5 months ago, and never a problem again. If your light stays on after cutting the rear wires to both doors, you can easily replace the switches in the front doors.

I own a 4x4 B4000 automatic. The thing has been absolutely great.

Now has 189000 kms and has had basic maintenance done.

Maintain or repair is the answer to all of you having issues. Take care of your truck...

Of course it has poor gas mileage, it's a 4 litre, 6 cylinder truck. It's not a Civic, people!

I have a 2000 B4000 4x4, and I agree with most, that it's been a great truck. EXCEPT for the incessant on/off of the dome light. I've managed to live with it by making sure both the front door and suicide door are latched properly.

However, I've encountered a new issue. My daytime running lights seem to be intermittent. They come on and off when they feel like it, and today I discovered that they can stay on even when the truck is turned off. Drained my battery. Grrrrr. Had to pull the fuse to turn them off.

Anybody else had this problem?
