I just bought a 1999 b4000 Troy Lee edition. Two days into the deal I noticed the following.

1. Blue smoke coming from the exhaust

2. O/D OFF light flashing (Transmission issues)

3. Clunk noise coming from the rear end

4. Power door locks not functioning

5. Passenger side window bouncing when I roll it down

6. Windshield Wipers come on when I start the car.

7. Foghorn noise coming from the air intake somewhere.

All in all, I'm pretty sure I got screwed over. :) The dealer said they would fix everything but it hasn't happened yet. Good Times. Good Times.

I have a 1994 B 4000 automatic transmission truck that needs to have the transmission removed to replace a seal. How do you take the trans out?

I just bought a 98 Mazda B4000. It runs great, but the door ajar light is driving me crazy. And the dome light will not go out when it's on, whether the truck is running or not. I'll drive down the road, and if I go below 5mph, it while come back on "seriously". For now I just yanked the fuse, but the whole cluster is out. Now I noticed the switch for this is in the locking mechanism on the door lock. I'm wondering if I get into the door, if I could cut the wires, or cut them and connect them and do without the damn door is (ajar). WHO THOUGHT OF THIS concept altogether? Write me if you can help.

I too own a 2001 Ford built Mazda B4000 4x4 SE with the same damn problems.

EGR, "door ajar" comes on in certain situations.

4x4 control module.

Center air vent is none existent (fell apart upon removal for stereo replacement).

Timing chain is making a noise @ 2300rpm now.

Lifters tick sometimes.

ABS light on and off.

E-brake release broke.

A/C quit.

Horrible on gas.

Loud creak from torsion L/S torsion bar.

Engine oil is always black.

Steering wheel doesn't straighten out when I let go.

Cruise lights on wheel burnt out.

Tranny began to clatter in 3rd the other day. It became louder while other gears became worse, then BANG! My truck is now a $15,000 heap of scrap with 160,000 km's of accumulated crap. I have now experienced the true definition of the slogan "Built Ford Tough".

Thanks for wasting my hard earned money Ford/Mazda. I loved that truck aside from all the b.s. Your company has failed yet another, whom is now going back to a Toyota!

Anyone in Canada who has cheap parts such as a 5spd tranny in good shape so I can sell this P.O.S. can e-mail me at dustinelles@live.com or on facebook.

I have a 2001 B4000 and found that if the door ajar light is on.. slam the 1/2 door and then close the regular door... this will fix the problem.

I have a 2000 B4000 4x4 TLE and have had some of the problems with the door light and some problems with plugs fouling out and rough running. But, all in all, I couldn't be happier with this truck. I bought it new in 2000. It has 152,000 miles on it and about 65,000 of those miles were pulling a 3500lb. trailer in tow all over the US including a 10,000 mile round trip from Austin, TX to Anchorage AK. I change the oil every 3-5000 miles, 4th set of tires, new belts, plugs etc. Never any major repairs. The dash lights have burned out on one side and the ABS light has been lit for 3 years, but it brakes fine. Thanks for the heads up on the other issues. Good luck.

B4000 Mazda 4X4 Door Ajar light won't go off and the dome light stays on for awhile after closing the door. Does anyone know what causes this problem? Sounds like it's a design fault in this vehicle. If you got it solved somewhere please post.

I've replaced the switch on the one driver side door but it didn't solve the problem.

I have a 1998 b4000 4 wheel drive that I bought used about 2002 and it has been absolutely (knock on wood) terrific with one exception... the door ajar light stays on or doesn't come on... very intermittent. With that exception, this is likely the best vehicle I own.

Don't know how I got here, but I'm a little surprised at all the negative comments.

I have 01 B4000 4X4 with all the bells, except the temp.. compass mirror and it too is the 5spd automatic 4.0 SOHC 207 hp.

The only real problem that I have encountered is that DPFE sensor that was bad from the get go. But other than that, it's been a great lil truck.

Now would I have bought it again NO! I coulda had a "hemi" with the same gas mileage. Ya know any domestic big truck gets 15 mpg. And it's a 6 cyl!! What's up with that Ford? When I bought the truck I didn't know that it was really a Ford or I probably, no definitely wouldn't have bought it, but I'm glad I did as it has served me well.

It rides nice, has good power for a 4x, the tires wear well, the 4 wheel on the fly has never failed me, and I especially like the rear doors for easy access.

Yall might want to check around before drawing any assumptions from this site. eg. ranger powersports, the rangerstation.

I have a Mazda B4000 and the door light problem is easy to solve. The issue is where the SEAT BELT attaches to the bottom of the suicide door (1/2 door). The belt attachement 'swivels' and can end up pointing downwards. This prevents the door from closing properly.

Open the small door, make sure the seatbelt is swivelled up and then close it. Close the main door and Voila!

They should print this in the manual!!!
