2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS 4 cylinder from North America

Summary:

One major problem, but nice looking

Faults:

I have had this car for about 4 years and I have had to replace the rotors once. Also, I had to have the rotors turned 4 or 5 times in the past 2 years.

The car shakes when you go to brake if you are going above 40 miles. (Which you always are)

General Comments:

I love the look of the car, but I am not sure if I will be getting another Eclipse.

2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT 6 speed from North America

Summary:

Great overall car

Faults:

The clear gloss on the front left headlight is pealing off.

The steering wheel has small flaws I suppose due to usage.

The cup holder, well, I am not too sure why the rubber part just came out when I first purchased the car.

The paint seems to have worn and chipped a little bit.

The SRS airbag light was a problem for a little while, but it went away.

The back surface of the seats scratch very badly.

The trunk lock only wants to unlock the very first time every other time I try to open it.

The interior lights really do not provide a lot of light in the dark.

General Comments:

I really love this car for many reasons.

I love the over drive of the car.

I love the overall appearance of the car.

The doors and trunk are so heavy. The doors will swing open if you do not watch them.

The sound system is good quality.

I love the four disk CD changer.

You should use a sun block on the black leather seats often so as not to fade them.

2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT V6 from North America

Summary:

An wanna be sports car

Faults:

We bought this car in the winter and did not try ac well, now we tried it and does not appear to work.

The cruise control does not work. The light comes on, but it will not maintain any speed.

The car had anti-lock brakes as an option and of course this car did not have them on it. Who would by a car that goes 140 mph and not have anti-locks? Consequently the car is terrible on snow, I live in Idaho!

The 17 inch tires are near impossible to find studded snow tires for it.

The rear driver speaker has died.

The radio goes to static when the rear defroster is turned on.

Just assumed with only 59000 miles on it that the car would mechanically be in as good a shape as it looked, was I wrong. Terrible to get into and out of also.

Lots of road noise enters the interior.

Terrible view out of the cockpit.

General Comments:

The car will go like lighting on dry pavement well past 130 mph. Shifts and handles better the faster that you drive it.

OK gas mileage compared to the 95 Tahoe we have.

2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS 2.7L four cylinder from North America

Summary:

Nice Looking, Fast Car for the Price!

Faults:

The only thing I have had to replace was the spark plugs, coils and wires. This repair was partly because I hot rod the car a lot.

General Comments:

I have added cold air intake, the car runs better, faster, and it sounds meaner. My GS eclipse controls awesomely, I take corners very fast and have total control.

2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT 3.0 Litre DOHC 24 Valve V6 from North America

Summary:

The best thing that ever happened to me

Faults:

Power steering pump went after 65,000 miles... but I am assuming it was because I let my little brother drive the car for about a month and he probably beat on it.

General Comments:

I have put a lot of performance parts in my car, and never had a horrible problem with it!...It's a great car and I love it!

2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT 3.0 V6 from North America

Summary:

A good looking problem

Faults:

Head light on passenger side went dim and I found it had a melted harness replaced cost 20.00 for the part.

Three out of the four rims bent caused car to shake started to fall apart so I bought aftermarket wheels.

Brake rotors are pitted and rusting bad looks like they could bust under hard breaking I am getting new ones ASAP.

Sunroof sticks sometimes needs help.

Plastic fasteners are falling off everywhere causing bumpers and plastic trim to rattle replaced with metal bolts and nuts with hard rubber washers.

Noises coming from rear end of car yet to find problem either shock or bushing. very annoying every bump is a rattle or thump.

Leather seats are fading and stating to crack I have conditioned them twice in 3 months.

Noise belts squeak when its hot I will be replacing soon.

Glove box lock falls out whenever you unlock it.

Alarm goes a little haywire sometimes also when I lock with key with out the alarm remote it will go off when opening on occasion.

The car has noises everywhere there are noises in the front in the back in the dash and in the trunk.

General Comments:

Besides the problem this car is hard and expensive to work on the timing belt is going to cost you 800.00 dollars a routine tune up requires you to take off the upper intake on the car dealer wants over 500 for this operation. Drive belts are also a big task can't even be seen from under the hood have to take out inner fender to get to them. Also it only take premium fuel witch is a dent in your wallet.

We love the car. It is not as fast as our previous car, but handles well and look nice. Once you work out the bugs in the car witch could be a while it is great it car looks great inside and out. but it seams as if it was slapped together. Too many noises everywhere it is not a quit car, but if you got the infinity sound system it can be easily droned out. very comfortable and if I could give it back I wouldn't.
