1995 Oldsmobile Achieva S quad 4 from North America

Summary:

Best first car ever!

Faults:

It was my first car.

Quad 4 is great but in the snow it sucks.

After 12 years - there can be some "wear and tear".

General Comments:

Love the car!

It has been an amazing roadster.

This car made3 trips from the Midwest to LA and back without problems.

Regular oil changes and typical maintenance has kept it a beauty!

Turns on a dime for such a wide car.

Alternator went out at 95k, but wasn't too bad.

Interior is still nice!

1995 Oldsmobile Achieva S 3.1 from North America

Summary:

Great first reliable car

Faults:

The engine (3.1 V6 in this car) started to leak oil and I have to top it up with 4 quarts of oil each week, I think the seals are gone and I have to replace it.

The brakes are a little noisy (not when it's time to change it), but it works perfect.

General Comments:

If you like to stick in the driver's seat, and feel the car pulling back, you're gonna love this because this engine is pretty quick on acceleration.

It also gets great gas mileage - mine gets about 31 on the highway. It also handles pretty good.

The air conditioning on it is mountain cold. If you have it fixed, it's like the one of a brand new car.

You won't be disappointed buying one of these.

Watch for wet conditions, this car may be stuck on the street spinning tires.

Great first car. I have had this car for one year and have never replaced any major parts on it.

1995 Oldsmobile Achieva from North America

Summary:

Loved it! Great Car

Faults:

Overheated and broke down.

Had to replace the alternator.

The floor of the passenger seats floods.

Have to replace these small screws under the engine.

Had to fix the motor of the driver side window.

General Comments:

I loved this car. I didn't spend any money on it the first year I had it. I put that car through hell and back and it held on for as long as it could. Problems began about the second year I had it. The window motor needed replaced. I got in an accident and it needed a lot of work. It didn't run the same over. The last year I had it, it overheated and I barely got it to the auto body shop before it completely died. They couldn't figure out the problem and finally replaced the alternator and some other stuff. About a week later it broke down again and hasn't worked since. These little screws under the engine have to be replaced, but its going to cost about $1500 to fix and I only paid $3000 for the car when I got it, so I just bought a new one. I haven't gotten rid of my Achieva because it was a great car and it might still be working like it did if I had treated it better. TAKE CARE OF YOUR CAR.

What little screws under the engine? Also these Achievas that get water on the passenger front carpet - it's usually coming from under the cowl area. There's a little flap door on the fresh air intake. If you go to Google to "automotive forums", you'll find some discussion about it. Look for the Oldsmobile forum Achieva section. If you go there, ask for advice about those little screws under the engine. It may not be a big deal to fix them.

Get rid of this car I had one and had to sold for cheap!!!

1995 Oldsmobile Achieva S 3.1L V6 from North America

Summary:

Got my moneys worth!

Faults:

EGR soleniod #3 replaced after failure.

Cleaning of some kind of valves to get the Olds to pass Ohio emissions tests.

1 power window motor (rear 2 still don't work, but who cares)

Power locks don't lock/unlock front doors, rears work fine.

When shifting the transmission (ex. from park to reverse or drive) the car hops.

Shifts hard going into 2nd gear.

Begins to overheat when outside temp is above 90 and car is idling (not complaining though.)

Also when temp is 90+ outside, the Olds sometimes idols sort of rough (still not complaining)

General Comments:

I can't complain about any faults of the vehicle, because it has been 100% reliable for 6 months now.

Seats are worn, but at 145k they should be, and they're still comfortable enough.

Runs like a dream about 99.9% of the time.

Still cleans up to a fantastic showroom shine after a good wash/wax.

This car is pretty damn fast!

Handling could be a little bit better, but I'm sure it was 10 years ago.
