1998 Oldsmobile Intrigue GLS 3.8 II Series from North America

Summary:

Dependability-wise and price-wise, this car is better than any Japanese competitor

Faults:

Except normal wear, nothing had to be replaced or repaired. Exemplary reliability.

General Comments:

This car is great on the gas (rarely above 7.5 litres / 100km on the freeway), and is very dependable and reliable. Suspension is perfectly tuned with a good balance of comfort and agility.

The quality of the interior material is far superior to key competitors that I had the chance to drive, and the interior volume is more than spacious. The list of equipment is formidable.

Nothing bad to say about this car. Had GM built all their cars like that in the first place, they would never had gone bankrupt.

1998 Oldsmobile Intrigue 3.8 from North America

Summary:

Good value

Faults:

Well, I have got a 98 with the 3.8 engine, and all in all, I can't complain.

I am not mechanical at all. I have always used 10 percent ethanol fuel and synthetic oil.

The plastic top of the radiator broke at about 212,000 miles, and one of the wheel bearings have been replaced.

There have been some weird electrical issues, the front driver running light has been replaced about five times, along with the whole assembly, and some alternators.

1998 Oldsmobile Intrigue GL 3.8 from North America

Summary:

I love this this car

Faults:

I got the car with 195,000 miles on her, and she ran very good. The only thing I had to do is put new rotors and pads on the front, no big deal. I haven't had to do anything else in the 10,000 miles that I have owned it.

The only thing I would complain about is the seats are not very comfortable for trips.

General Comments:

I love this car. Other than the seats being uncomfortable, this is a perfect road trip car. I have the Bose stereo and its amazing.

The car now has over 205,000 miles on her and she still runs like a dream and shifts through all gears really smooth. I can easily get 30mpg out of this car, and that's with 4 people in it on the interstate, this car loves open road. I have put 10,000 miles on this car in 5 months. I love the ride it gives too, its very smooth and it handles really good.

This car also does not leak ANY fluids either, or use any.

I would definitely buy another one of these, but it would have to have the 3.8 in it. Of course this is an example of a very well maintained vehicle, I am an ASE certified mechanic.

1998 Oldsmobile Intrigue from North America

Summary:

I like it, all problems aside

Faults:

Hey, I'm Amanda and the Intrigue is my first car.

It has the leather interior and is automatic. I love how cute it is and it does run very well.

The only problem I have with it, and I'm hoping people on here can help me out with it, is that my right front tire or right rear tire is squeaking as the wheel goes around. When I go slow, it does it as well as when I am going fast.

It is a little bit sluggish as well when I accelerate, and the back clunks when I go over bumps...

I have new brakes and tie rods. I'm thinking maybe my wheels need to be re-aligned, but I'm not sure. My tires are full of air and everything else seems to be great. The steering is very smooth and easy to handle.

All those problems aside, I really love my new car!!!

Can someone please help me, or if you had similar problems, let me know what you did to fix the squeaking in the tire and the clunking noise?

THANKS A BUNCH

Amanda.

General Comments:

Love it.

The seats are great.

The clunking noise in the back, could be that your strut mounts need to be replaced.

The squeaking you're talking about is probably your wheel bearing.
