Within one day of having car the indicator broke as it wouldn't flick off. This has since been replaced 3 times and I have been told a modified version has been made and I have had it fitted on my car.
Carpet in Drivers well comes away from the seal.
Both back passenger doors stuck and could not be opened had to go back to the garage for that.
Drop link on the rear suspension has been replaced twice, made a clonking sound and I actually felt embarrased driving it as it was so noisy.
Shock absorber needed replacing when the car was only 13 months old! Not under warranty, but as we had so many faults with the car (9 visits to the garage in 6 months!) it was fixed free of charge.
Tyres completely wore out in 16,000 miles.
Have a squeak in the exhaust which has been replaced 3 times, only when our old dealership shut down and we had to go to another dealership were we told that it could be replaced, but they were waiting for a modified part. Still have problem as waiting for modified part.
Had a service and were not told of any problems with car, were going on holiday to France when a friend pointed out they were nearly bald! Dealer didn't really care. The attitude was - well it's a second hand car what do you expect! A second hand car that at 13 months old still cost us £9000. This was supposed to be our dream car - more like dream car from hell.
I forgot to mention on the original that we also had an antipollution fault that took 2 attempts to fix and the car still bunnyhops from time to time now!
I've recently purchased a 206 GLX for my wife and whilst at the dealership a very nice 52 plate 307 HDI 90 Rapier caught my eye. 19,000 miles on the clock and only £8495... reading many of the reviews on this site do I avoid it like the plague and stick with my Focus or take a chance???
I would avoid it like the plague. Apparently 2002 was the worst year for the 307, with lots of manufacturing faults. They are still waiting for upgraded parts to be made now. I have only just been contacted about my squeaky exhaust, they have only just manufactured an upgraded part - 3 years on - not very good!

My Aunt has a 2002 Peugeot 307, not sure what model. Any way she drives like your grand mother and she just took it in for it's regular service. Now she's had it since new, never had a problem with it and never let anyone else drive it. The dealer says the had gasket is 'leaking' and the best part is it's going to cost NZ$6500.
Has anybody else had a head gasket done and how much?
The dealer seamed more interested in trying to sell her a new car instead.
I recommended she get a second opinion. (And a Honda)
