1999 Pontiac Grand Am from North America

Summary:

Everything that looks good is not good

Faults:

I just purchased the car one week ago from the dealer.

Already I had to take it back. The brakes were grinding, the dealer said it was normal. But they fixed the problem. The dealer said the problem was due to metallic brakes, But I knew better.

The driver side is leaking water from under the car. The dealer said it was due to the air condition or the heater.

The car drives slower than the amount of acceleration you put to it.

General Comments:

I like the car, it rides good.

But looks aren't everything.

1999 Pontiac Grand Am SE 3.4 V6 from North America

Faults:

Rotors had to be replaced twice and still have rubbing noise. The intake manifold gasket went at 36000 miles. The coil packs had to be replaced along with the belts at 36000. The driver-side window has shifted forward, needing a new window and regulator. The radio volume is messed up. The front bumpers clear coat has chipped off.

General Comments:

I am not happy with this vehicle and I don't think I will purchase another one. I have contacted the dealer several times about my intake manifold gasket and it was conveniently on back order until my warranty was over resulting in over 500.00 in repair at 36,000 miles. Pontiac is unsupportable of their patrons and deserve two thumbs down.

1999 Pontiac Grand Am SE1 3.6/V6 from North America

Summary:

A Great car for a great price

Faults:

First month I had the car it overheated. Dealership "found nothing wrong maybe the thermo. stuck?" The car still runs HOT.

Have replace brakes and rotors frequently. More frequently than any other car I have owned.

Cupholder is too close to the shifter.

Radio will turn up when you are turning it down.

Replaced belts and hoses at 50,000 miles.

General Comments:

I love this car. It is a very good car all around.

Handles great! Very good control in snow. I would recommend to anyone.

It is natural to have some problems out of machines... after all they are just that...machines.

1999 Pontiac Grand Am SE V6 from North America

Summary:

My best buy in cars yet

Faults:

The passenger window clips that hook the window onto the motor have shattered.

The drivers side back tail light has had water leak into it, and rusted all of the wiring.

On the drivers side door.. the black paint is coming off (just around the window though).

Almost all of the belts have been replaced because of squealing.

And the battery hooker upper things melted out of the side of the first/ stock battery.

The front windshield cracked for no reason.. was cleaning my window one day and there was a huge crack in it.

The service engine soon light had a short in it and came on all the time when nothing was wrong.

General Comments:

I love the car. I look forward to driving it everyday. Also I took it on its first long road trip in November and had no problems... good gas mileage and it was a dream to drive. The car is sporty and fast and Its name is Reggie and I love it!! The only thing I would change though is the cup holders.. you can't put stuff in them when the car is in park.

The car handles extremely well and is very comfortable.

The car is very well equipped for the price I paid.

The car is extremely reliable and has always started even on the coldest mornings.

Car is extremely stable in winter conditions.

Interior is well designed and laid out.

Instruments are easy to read and controls are well laid out.

The dealer I purchased the car from was a pain to deal with, however I found another even closer to my home which is remarkably good.
