Summary:

The Megane 2 is an improvement over the old model, but ride/handling and refinement could be better

Faults:

Nothing has went wrong with this car, never let me down. It's very reliable, no problems with the engine and electrics.

I use it every day and I use it hard; just normal things like wear and tear, and servicing.

General Comments:

The Megane 2 is an improvement over the Megane 1.

All the car is different from the Megane 1. The hatchback looks beautiful.

The biggest improvement was the quality materials used in the cabin (high quality and luxury).

The Megane 2 rides firmer than the Megane 1. The soft ride of the previous Megane is gone, and it had been replaced by a firm ride. At slow speeds the ride feels very firm, but it improves with speed.

The steering is also better than the previous model, but it still lacks feel and you need a firm hand sometimes, but road holding is very good and body roll is well controlled, and it feels always stable and safe.

There is some road noise over poor surfaces especially, from the 16 inch wheels upwards, they suffer over potholes and bumps, but at high speed the ride becomes quite and very comfortable.

The 1.5 dci engine is very economical and smooth.

Space is not very good in the rear. Rear legroom is poor, rear headroom is good, and in the front space is good; both headroom and legroom.

Things I like in this car are:

Impressive high speed ride and stability

The economical engine

High quality cabin

Handling

Safety

Things I do not like:

The traditional french soft ride has been replaced by a firm ride

The CD player sound quality is not very good

Road noise, especially at low speeds

You need a firm hand on the steering

Poor rear space

The ride can be fidgety on some roads at low speeds, but this improves greatly and settle as speeds increase.

Summary:

Overall I think it is the best used car on the market for its value

Faults:

The drivers seat belt hanger plastic cover broke while emergency breaking this shows poor quality of plastics used in the car.

Drivers side mirror automatic closing motor is faulty have not yet taken it to the dealer I just close it manually.

Drivers side arm rest both on the door and center console have shown some wear.

Front right mag rim bent easly on hitting a pot hole (a lot of them on the Egyptian Roads)

General Comments:

Well it is a car that turns heads, everybody I know likes the way it looks.

The Keyless ignition like the new BMW's is also a cool feature.

From inside it is very spacious with a lot of storage compartments, the glove compartment is real large.

Seats are comfortable compared to my previous car.

The suspension system is sure much better than most korean or Japanese. cars on the egyptian market even after 3 years of operating.

Head lights are strong and the adjusting feature helps a lot when you have passengers in the back.

The luggage compartment is huge it takes all our needed luggage and we are a family of five.

The sound system is nice and the handy controls in the steering wheel lets you control the music without looking away from the road.

Breaks are strong though the ABS kicks in early but with the family in the car it makes you feel real safe.

Not so happy with the A/C it takes time to work and to really have the temperature you desire you must close the rear sun shead and the ones on the rear side doors.

I have a 2oo6 Megane and I am happy with it. For the A/C I think the 2006 and later model have better A/C performance. A friend of mine has th 2005 and have the same complain. But he recognised the better A/C in mine.

The car overall performance is good. This car has the highest options compared to peers. Some sounds coming below steering wheel and from front panel... I do not know the reason and the service could not help. Very Good fuel consumption as well.
