2005 Renault Megane luxe dynamic 1.9 D from Italy

Summary:

Cheap to run and comfortable to drive

Faults:

The automatic air conditioning packed up after 4 months. I spent the whole summer without being able to have it fixed! In Italy the car dealers are closed for more than a month in the summer. The problem is still present as the air conditioning now only works manually! I've taken time off work on several occasions, but found the car dealer to be seriously unreliable. Now there is a frustrating noise coming from the dash board, which I believe to be related to the air conditioning fan?! I called the Renault help line and they promised to get back to me... That was a month ago!! I'm still waiting...

General Comments:

Apart from this continuous problem, it is a nice car.

2005 Renault Megane 1.6 16v from Egypt

Summary:

Most beautiful Sedan

Faults:

One of the number plate lights goes off sometimes..

General Comments:

After ownin the car for 6 monthes I can say I'm very happy with the car..

The design of the car is amazing.. it looks great from every angel.. though some people would need sometime to get used to its looks..

Inside the Megane is very roomy.. with everything and every button at the right place.. u don't need a lot of time to get used to it..

On-board Trip computer provides you with all the info you need.. Oil level reader-Fuel used-Average fuel consumption-Current fuel Consumption-Estimated range-Distance travelled-Average speed-Mileage before service-Tyre pressure-Time-Temprature.

Step-Tronic Gear is very responsive, has a manual mood for sporty driving...115 HP engine feels strong and car takes off easy with nice engine sound at 130 Km/H.

Car has Automatic operating head-lights-Windscreen wipers.

60L fuel tank capacity..8-9L/100Km is what car usually consumes in the city..

Power assisted steering took me sometime to 'feel' it.. it has a very strong ABS brakes that will make you feel very confident while driving, additionally it has EBD, Emergency Brake Assist, ESP.

Plenty of Storage Compartments!:Door pockets-Front door armrest-Underfloor Storage in driver's and passenger's footwells!-Front center armrest-Glove box-Sunglasses holder-Cup holders-Rear armrest storage-Rear Parcel shelf storage compartment.

Other stuff like good Air-con..Radio CD player with 6 speakers.. Electronic mirrors..Doors close automatically when car moves.. Fog lights..6 Air bags.etc.

All in all it's a great car.. Previous Car was a 1984 200E..it was a great car as well specially the engine..but I'm very happy with the Megane so far..i'd recommend it to anyone.

I'm sorry, but I think you are only descriping the car from its manual or something, I'm going to by a Megane PhaseII, but most of the comments even for pepole from outside Egypt has the same issues regarding window motors, poor parts may be it is because the car is made in Turkey.

2005 Renault Megane EX 1.5 CDi turbo diesel (100bhp) from Malta

Summary:

A comfortable, safe, economical car, good value for money

Faults:

None.

The only problem I've got is that when I open the boot, the parcel shelf gets detached out of place, and the dealer is going to set the rear seat, and solve the problem under warranty.

General Comments:

It is a very comfortable car, rides well and handles well, although the steering is too light at slow speeds, and is a bit slow to react from one corner to another.

Because the Megane is a car set up with comfort in mind, perhaps it's not as rewarding to drive as a Focus, but it's really safe, and as the speed increases, the steering becomes firm and the car rides better, and on our 'moon terrain' roads, it's smooth and stable.

It has a light clutch and smooth gear change.

Refinement is also good, and its quality materials and soft suspension give a very smooth ride and soft damping.

It's also spacious and very practical, and the build quality is very good.

Economy is really impressive; more than 65 miles per gallon on the combined cycle.

The engine is smooth and strong.

And finally it is the safest car in its class; well done Renault.
