"Definitely for the Renault fan"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Rear wheel bearings have failed, towbar has fallen off (main dealer fault), battery failed in second the year, rattles in the front suspension, head gasket joint leaking oil, immobiliser is unreliable and a few bulbs have blown.

General comments?

Very comfortable car to travel in. Corners and handles like a dream.

Suspicious build quality.

Beautiful looking car.

I now have 82k miles on this car and no intentions of changing it. Meanwhile I've replaced both rear wheel bearings-again! The gearbox can be frustratingly notchy in the first 3 gears, but its been like that since new. The starter motor slowed down and it had to be dismantled ind greased and new brushes fitted around 60k. Immobiliser stops working about once a year, then an hour later (or day) it starts working again... A few small rattles here and there, but still a beautiful car that passes its NCT test every time.

I now have 112k miles on this car and have experienced the following: Replaced 3 sets of wheel bearings (again!), got starter brushes replaced (again!), replaced part of immobiliser, replaced clutch cable which got stiff, leak at thermostat housing, lock mechanism on rear door broke, but car still handles like a dream and starts first time every time. I hope to get at least 200k from my car.
