Is yours a 1.6VVT by chance...

Hi, I have a megane 98'with the same wiper/heater problem.

Has anyone got a solution for this annoying & dangerous problem. help please!

Many thanks... live t'die.

Hi guys...

It's an ECU problem believe it or not. bad news I'm afraid cause it's a major job. I contacted Renault about this and the ECU is definately the issue, however £300 for the ECU alone its hardly worth it! If you can get all the parts from the breakers and do it yourself maybe?

14th Feb 2008, 10:41

Thank you very much, this was not an ECU problem at all. I refer to the heater / wiper problem.

I did exactly as you said; bared the wires used a standard screw up connector and insulating tape. I it fixed in 10 minutes. EXCELLENT! Thank You. (Total repair £5.45 - that included buying a wire stripper for £3.50)

I have a Renault Megane Scenic 2004, the dashboard has gone blank after leaving it parked for six days. Radio worked at first but has now has stopped working also. Anyone got an idea what is wrong before I have to take it to Renault and pay £500?

Hi there, I just wanted to say you're a superstar about the heater / wiper problem. I sent my car to the garage twice; both times it come back working (they wiggled a wire), only to be let me down next time it rained and I needed them. I read your solution and now fixed them properly myself (and I'm a woman). You saved me loads of dosh and hassle.

Thanks so much. Sandra.

Hi I have a Renault megane (05) 1.6v DYNAMIQUE. Just looked out of the window and the rear passenger (drivers side) window was down. Went out and it won't do anything. There is no noise coming from the motor and neither switch will work. I am sick to death of keep having to pay £80 diagnostic fee every time it has sick day. My car is an import so it is out of its warranty, any ideas.

Cheers.

Chris.

Window regulator gone. Very very common problem on these. £300.

23rd Oct 2008, 17:25

Hi, yeah, your problem is the plastic bracket that hold your glass to the regulator. You can buy these on ebay for £12.

I've heard loads of people talking about the 'earth strap' or 'earth wire' on some sites, but despite trawling the web for hours I can't find any instruction on where the thing is or what it should look like! (Is this just me being dumb?)

I'm almost positive my prob is a loose earth wire somewhere, but don't know where to start looking for it.

Directions please?

Have intermittent starting problem with a recently purchased 2003 1.6 Megane saloon. Starts fine but occasionally cuts out when cold when the revs reduce when changing gear or idling in traffic. When warmed up the problem disappears. Sometimes the engine is noisy for a few seconds when starting. Accelerator seems to be quite sensitive. Needless to say, nothing shows on garage diagnostics. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi, I have a Renault Megane Cabrio.

The rear windows are not working and my parcel shelf does not come down with the roof.

As far as rear o/s and rear n/s windows goes, I am sure it is the plastic which holds the glass on, but I can't find it anywhere. Does anyone know what it is called, so I can google it?

Thanks, and perhaps as far as the parcel shelf goes, I am hoping it is the micro switch. Has anyone got any ideas that won't cost me a bundle?

I have a Renault Megane Dynamic.

The wipers stopped working, so I got diagnostics to check. It said it was the part next to the battery. What is the correct name for this part? The number is 8200306033a. I borrowed one off somebody but still need to source one. I swapped the part, tried to clean up the corroded connector and tried to reconnect to part. The part has 3 fuse trays and is wired into the harness with 9 connectors. Is this part goosed? Or can it be fixed in any way? The part has a plastic case which comes in two bits.

Thanks,

Mark.

Basically Renault cars have pi## poor wiring and are riddled with electrical faults. Personally I think they should still be recalling any car up to say 2000, and putting their obvious electrical problems right.

I will never buy any Renault again, and will also advise anybody who asks about buying a car to stay well clear of them.

Some of the faults we have had with ours include not being able to switch off the engine, and being unable to stall it, due to being nearly blocked in by cars front and rear. Even disconnecting the battery did not stop it.

Wipers going at full speed, even when switched off.

Electric mirrors operating on their own, horn sticking on, auto wiper fault code, unable to get into car, doors locking/unlocking on their own, batteries running flat when left for more than a day, airbag fault light, lights and indicators going off/ON on their own.

It has been to a Renault dealer, where they have charged a small fortune, and then 48 hours later something else goes wrong. You call them and they say it's just a coincidence, and there will be further charges and investigation fees. Also for some odd reason, they don't like you to take your car to them more than once, and insist they collect from your home, saying something like Renault head office insist it done like this? No wonder the fees are so high.

How can you argue that some faults were not there prior to the last fix, when they say only they can check / fix it? I would take it to a independent electrician, but most won't touch this make with a barge pole.

We have two Renaults, purchased at around the same time, and will be glad to be shot of them.

Hi, I have Renault Megane 2004 1.6 petrol. Yesterday the dash went totally blank, now I can't see the speedo, how much fuel left, no radio, no ticking while the indicator is on. I have a feeling that's not a good thing. Can anybody tell me what's the story? How much is it gonna cost to fix it?

9th Dec 2012, 12:34

Renault fixes many of their dashes (Megane Scenic definitely) at a fixed price under goodwill after a lot of publicity via Watchdog.

If not, a complete display fix is available for £79 on eBay; just remove and unplug the display, send it off and they post it back to just plug in again.

I've just done an Espace dash on this service, it was easy and worked 100%.

Easy fix.

I have a Renault Megane Dynamique 1.6 07 plate.

This morning it will not start at all, it is turning over but not starting. I have never had a problem with it before.

Thanks.

I have a 2004 diesel Megane. For no reason the clock has stopped coming on unless the radio is turned on... sometimes the radio goes off on its own. At the same time the 12V power socket, air con and heated screen have no power.

Any ideas??
