1995 Saturn SL SL1 1.9L 4 cylinder from North America

Summary:

It is an excellent car for the money

Faults:

The engine does burn oil faster than my previous car.

It needed a new engine wire, because the old one was worn and caused the engine to "buck" upon accelleration.

General Comments:

Other than the minor engine wire thing, this Saturn has been the most reliable car I have ever owned. I drove it from my residence in Derry, New Hampshire, to Naples, Florida, a 1,300 mile trip each way, and the Saturn had absolutely no problems (I think I put a total of one quart of oil in the engine during the whole trip) and it gets 35 miles to the gallon!!!

This car runs super and has very decent power for a 1.9 4 cylinder. And my particular Saturn is white with black bumpers and has chrome wheels so it looks very nice!

I love my Saturn! and I plan to keep it! I've had it for 7 years without a single problem and I do feel bad for the other people who have "lemon" Saturns, but my Saturn has been just peachy for the past 75,000 miles.

Thanks :)

Faults:

Everything! If you like your money, don't buy a Saturn. Too many things went wrong to explain here!

General Comments:

"A Crappy Kind of Company" made should be Saturn's slogan.

As for your comment on the running cost of Saturn vehicles, it has actually been proven that Saturn's are among the cheapest vehicles to own. As of 1995, the year of my vehicle, it ranked at the top of the list. Where it stands today, I am unclear, but I can't see it dropping significantly.

Faults:

Overall, there have been no problems with this car. We have had only one major problem which was with the piston ring. The dealer replaced but we had to pay for it out of own pocket because the car's warranty was already up. But other than that the car has been totally reliable.

General Comments:

The best thing about Saturn is the dealer service. When we had that engine trouble, the mechanic came in 3 hours before opening to fix our car. We have gone to the dealership for our oil changes and car washes where they are always happy to do that and are always on time. I recommend a Saturn to anybody who wants a reliable safe car with great dealer service to top it off.

Personally, I can't imagine a better car to buy. I have a 1995 SL2, and she is the best little car I've ever had. She has been reliable, fast, GREAT in the snow, comfortable, and the service at the dealership is impeccable. I recommend a Saturn to anyone looking for a car. Like they say in the commercials - "I LOVE MY SATURN!"

I am the proud owner of a 1995 Saturn SL2, 5 speed manual, DOHC. I have to say that it has been the best car I have ever had. The quality of the interior isn't much to brag about, but for the price range the car is in it isn't too bad.

The one comment I mainly wanted to add was that we went to the Saturn dealer in our local area (central KY) and they had terrible service. I even spoke to the store manager and was not treated professionally. Because of this I will not buy another Saturn. Good car or not. Honda and Toyota also make outstanding cars.
