2001 Toyota Corolla LX review from Singapore
"Practical, economical with good performance and happy driving and ownership experience"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Nothing has gone wrong with my Corolla over 19500 kilometres. It has been totally faultless with no warranty issues at all.
General comments?
The engine is a bit noisy or busy at cruising speeds above 100 km/h (60 mph).
Economy is excellent, averaging about 7litres every 100km even in city driving. On long distance runs consumption is even lower down to 5.8 to 6.2 litres per 100km.
The car is well equipped, but should have keyless entry as standard.
Performance is more than adequate unless you are a complete nutter.
The only bad point is the ride, which is a bit harsh at times.
Handling and grip are great. The power assisted steering is perfectly weighted nicely and the ABS brakes inspire confidence.
The interior is roomy and the seats comfortable. The air-conditioner is very powerful and cools the car quickly if it has been sitting in the sun.
Ergonomics are good, with clear easy to read instruments and good quality switchgear that feels like it will last well.
Resale values are likely to be better than the competition.
Not evrybody likes the styling, but it does grow on you after a while.
