2001 Toyota Highlander V6 from North America

Summary:

Design Flaw - Unbearable Wind Noise

Faults:

Unbearable wind noise from the passenger windows at highway speed.

I thought this car was great until other Highlander owners informed me on this problem. I have contact Longo Toyota (largest Toyota dealer in the U.S.) and Toyota USA concerning this problem. Would you believe that they are aware of this problem, but said that they are not doing anything about it at this time because there isn't enough complaints! Shame on Toyota on refusing to take responsibility of their design mistakes!

I have a newborn and it can break her eardrums if I lower the back window.

Please be aware of this problem. Do not buy a Toyota Highlander as it is flawed!

General Comments:

Do not buy a Toyota Highlander unless you plan on not using the back windows!

Oh my God, the car is a danger on the road!!! :-) )

Excuse me, your ignorance is showing. Any car with the back windows rolled down will cause this to happen- especially in suv's, given their ground clearance. Believe me, I work for a Toyota dealership in Northern Cal, and if Longo cannot fix your problem, given the size of their dealership, it's probably safe to say it isn't a problem.

And, for that matter, certainly not "flawed," or a "danger to the road."

2001 Toyota Highlander Limited V6 from North America

Summary:

A high performance bargain - BUY THIS VEHICLE! YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT FOR A MINUTE! AWESOME!!!

General Comments:

I bought a 2001 Limited for $26k with 33,000 miles on it recently. That's $26k out the door mind you. Anyhow, the SUV has EVERY option including gold package and towing package. I was told the thing booked out at around $40k in 2001 and feel as though I got a great bargain. This is by far the most AWESOME SUV I've ever driven and I used to sell Lexus's! It drives like a sports car and handles the snow and ice like a dream! My ONLY complaint is the gas it guzzles. I went from driving a Mazda 626 getting 35 MPG to a measly 18 MPG with this beast. The luxury and ride is unsurpassed will impress even the most anal Virgo on the planet. As far as the other complaints I've read about this vehicle, they are bullyrag! The 2001 Highlander Limited has NO faults and is simply the best of the best!

The Highlander is a much better SUV than anything Ford, Chevy, or Dodge has ever made or will ever make.

What is it about the Highlander that makes it so much better than anything American companies build? Could it be the terribly underpowered Camry engine, the brakes that malfunction (and that Toyota refuses to fix), the airbags that sometimes don't properly deploy, or the accelerator that sticks on the floor?

2001 Toyota Highlander Limited V 6 from North America

Summary:

An outstanding performing vehicle

Faults:

The Highlander has performed perfectly.

General Comments:

The Highlander has excellent response to acceleration.

The inside is very nice, roomy, and comfortable.

The ride is smooth and free of bumps.

The quietness and minute road noise are outstanding features.

The interior appointments have been resistant to the wear and tear from two grandsons who are 18 months and three years old.

The maintenance of carpet and leather seats has been very easy.

Cargo area is fantastic.

The sound system performance has been faultless.

The center console is the only option that would be rated 8 out of 10.
