"Best $750 I've ever spent!"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Currently the truck has been sitting in my garage since February and will until I decide to fix it (which will probably be when winter rolls around again) because the clutch plate is in pieces. The cost of this is about $250 total ($108 for parts).

Replaced clutch reservoir about a month before the clutch went.

Tires last fall.

My Dad rebuilt a new box out of wood and man, the taillight configurations are so confusing!

General comments?

Still runs like a top, even though it is a bit underpowered with the smaller 2.4 L engine.

Great for off roading, very cheap fun!

It's been in the garage for 4 months and I started it two weeks ago and as soon as I turned the key it fired up, just as it always has.

Seats the most comfortable I've sat in, ever! Everything is perfectly placed in the cabin, and that extra space behind the seat is great!

No problems at all until clutch went, and this is only the second clutch this truck has seen.

I went in the ditch last winter. I was accelerating off of a corner in 2WD and hit black ice and spun a 180 into the ditch and was in about 8 inches of snow, put it in 4WD and drove out.

I get 18-19 mpg in normal driving and 15-16 in hard driving.

I bought a 85 Corolla AE86 (RWD) to temporarily replace it till my brother gets his license and then he'll get it and it's just as good and just as much fun! Go Toyota!

I agree that this vehicle is great value for money. It appeared on Top Gear on a weakly bases, because its frequent appearance in Afghanistan (according to Clarkson) gave it a reputation for being indestructible.

To test this theory they did everything they could do destroy the car, had it battered by the sea, set on fire, bashed to death, they even had it fall from an exploding block of flats. They simply could not destroy the truck and eventually gave up!
