I partially understand the reasoning of comment 09:38, but 90% of the parents we know INSIST that their kids drive large, safe truck-based domestic SUV's or full-sized domestic trucks, because small imports crush so easily in crashes and don't offer the occupants any protection.

Really? So giving your kid an SUV that he can whip around a corner and flip is safe? And by the way, I owned a '96 Honda Accord that was rear-ended by a BUICK ROADMASTER! That Buick was huge! I drove away with no injuries, the driver of the Buick was not so lucky. She suffered neck injuries and her car had to be towed from the scene because it was no longer driveable. How is that unsafe? I was fine and drove home.

By the way, it's not just small imports that are at risk in accidents, small domestics are at risk too. Think about it, if a Ford Focus hits a Toyota Landcruiser, who do you think is going to walk away from that one?

I do not know how much trade in you would receive on the Camry, but your loan would be $119,650 less and you have better performance with GM. I pulled this example off a past review... I found it possible to own a Corvette and have zero regrets.

A small minority of the reviews go really off topic in this sort of way. My experience is that the people who drive these conversations are repeat visitors who will just move the conversation into another review, which just moves the issue elsewhere.

If people think comments have gone off topic, please vote this way using the buttons at the bottom of each comment. If enough people do that, the site will be able to separate the off topic comments into their own area. At the moment the volume of votes is too low for this to be as effective as it should be.

Tundra - faster straight line, better handling, room, ride, comfort, load carrying and better warranty however with the new Silverado. It is parked next to my Vette.

As this is a full size truck review, some are interested in the best value and warranty. I love test driving cars and trucks, passing on my testing to as many as possible. And I buy not sit and watch ads, and feel that qualifies me as an owner who lives daily with a specific late model with similar options, size and engine displacement.

I do not compare a Camry or Tacoma on a full size truck review. However if some similarities such as engine size or if performance upgrades cross over, I will. My car and truck now share the same stainless steel exhaust systems and same intakes.

I cannot see small car or truck analogies on a full size truck review. Unless you plan on putting your Tundra drivetrain in a smaller platform. Not happening at any rate anyway.

Enjoy what you own, and test drive and upgrade, it's more fun..

Oh please - how do you know who sat in or has driven a Corvette or Ferrari?

I think it is funny that people actually try to compare the mass produced Corvette to a Ferrari.

A well-known enthusiast magazine just tested the Corvette in a comparison with the Shelby Mustang. Although the Corvette won the overall competition, the writer noted that the Corvettes interior trim (door panels & dash) were lower quality than the Mustang.

Now if the Corvette has a lower quality interior than a Ford, do you really think that it is superior to a Ferrari?

How is the comparison any different than a low production Viper to a Corvette? If mass production is a negative, would that not mean a current mass produced Toyota would be far inferior to low production Toyotas made in Japan from years ago?

I can change my Vettes interior and put in high end racing seats, carbon graphite throughout from catalogs. My friend put a 10K paint job on his Vette. I could put 50K in upgrades mechanically and have room to spare. I do not need belt tensioners every 18 months, constant tuning and repairs. Maybe save and get a Ferrari if that's your wish, but if you own neither, let it be known.

When discussing super cars it seems the Toyota owners focus on interiors and cupholders.

The Ferrari 430 Scuderia has few amenities such as lack of sound insulation and even carpeting. There are exposed welds bonded floor panels visible from the drivers seat and spartan accommodations. I like the super car experience, I do not mind such trivial issues as door panels and dash materials. I have been in some with pop out windows and few creature comforts, but love the performance.

I have found the new Vette to have great seats, Bose sound system still sounds great in my convertible. I thought I would mention the 292k Ferrari interior in case someone was interested as there seems to be fretting over the Vettes.

I would consider a comparison missing the point if it rated a performance car on the door panels. That's like people who bought a Viper and complained it was too loud. Or somebody who bought a '68 Hemi Dart equipped for drag racing, and complained that it had no window cranks. What did you buy the damned thing for?!?!?

Back on the subject of Toyota (not that anyone cares). The first headline that caught my eye this morning was "Toyota recalls huge numbers of cars in the U.S. due to dangerous floor mats". That comes on the heels of "Toyota recalls 100,000 cars due to defective brakes" and "Toyota is embroiled in hundreds of SUV roll-over lawsuits". It seems the only thing Toyota is doing lately is making news... and all of it BAD.

20:49 The point got convoluted with import logic as usual. If a import has no carpeting, exposed welds and no sound deadening, that's perfectly fine, but if the only complaint on a domestic Vette is the dash materials and the door panels that came stock, it's a real big issue.

I like the Ford GT40 if you wish to pick on Ford. It will work. If you want super car performance that is under 100K, it is available still with GM. I upgraded my stock Vette interior with www.mamotorworks.com performance grade leather, and late model dashes are available in aluminum, burl wood, carbon fiber or rosewood. You can spend as much as you please, and there are side cup holders available next to the shallow change console mount. I do not want drinks in mine, but it is available. And you'll have phenomenal unleashed super car performance available at any time, if you want to shake the bland Camry loose.
