Nothing 'wrong' yet.. I have to admit I was a BMW mechanic and am probably more suited to understand and maintain German cars than lots out there, and I am picky. I have had over 60+ cars (to include 3 Beetles, 2 Campmobiles, 3 Rabbits, and a Jetta) and 25+ motorcycles and enjoyed most every one of them, mostly the German and Japanese. My last car, I swore I'd never buy a GM product again.. was a 96 Olds Achieva which was fine for 4 yrs then the electrics went wacko..etc..
The Beetle is not for everyone. Although it has that cute appeal, you must remember that although fairly well-built, it's not a BMW and not designed for herds of family and door slamming jumping around like a lunky SUV. It was designed (by Hitler, actually) to transport you from point A to point B in modest comfort and economy, and still does. Anyone having repeat problems, thinks an oil light coming on means stop at the next convenient time, wonders why the wiper blades are etching their windshield, and who cannot maintain or troubleshoot anything themselves should probably trade it in on a Ford or a bicycle. I love mine. Nuff said.
Are you talking about the new or old Beetle?
