Since new the car has pulled to the left. It has been to the dealer three times, but still pulls to the left. After the last visit the mechanic took me to one side and showed me a confidential memo highlighting this fault. Poor design means that the car will always pull to the left!!!
The car generally runs very well, and does about 50 mpg.
I test drove an 18 month old one of these for about 10 miles, never noticed the slightest bit of pull in any direction, except when accelerating hard which is a triat of powerful front wheel drive cars.
My other car is a 6-cylinder BMW and if there was anything "pully" about the golf I'm sure I would have noticed, as anyone who drives a BMW would agree.
I'm buying the golf due to the amazing combination of power and economy. Double the MPG of my BMW and slightly quicker, although it doesn't compare from a pure driving point of view.
