1987 Volvo 240 DL review from North America
"Practical car, very lovable"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
(Through 15 years of use, numerous parts have broken, I'll list the most recent.)
Replaced transmission about 2 years ago (ouch).
Pump for rear window is broken.
Odometer stopped at 215,088 miles.
Tailgate re-wired.
Rear suspension is wearing out.
Had to duct-tape driver's seat, the vinyl was cracking and splitting.
General comments?
This car is very practical. It is roomy, but not monstrous.
I especially like the visibility out of the windows.
Braking takes some getting used to, but works well.
The acceleration could use some work, but if you are patient the car does not seem to mind high speeds.
There should be a tachometer.
Fifteen years of sun has faded the yellow paint to a dull beige.
I was two years old when my mother bought this car, and it has been mine for a bit over a year. I love it to death; I'd take it over any of the "rice-rockets" my friends drive.
