I purchased a 2000 S-Type and have had similar problems with my transmission ... I was told this past week by a mechanic that there is a valve box inside the transmission that Jaguar has had problems with.

I own a 2001 4.0 S Type with 88k miles ... I have much the same issues with my car that many of you have had; transmission hard to shift at times, headliner coming loose, power window issues, and clunking noises whenever I drive on bumpy roads or drive over bumps ... I love the car, but wish that Jaguar would fix some of the more common issues with the S Type.

2002 Jaguar X type, the worst and most expensive thing you can do for yourself ... Right now the car in the shop for a fuel pump, already replaced the oil gaskets, the transmission, door locks, stereo system is just way wrong ... Nice to look at and that's about it
