Clutch warped, but was easy to replace.
Alternator stopped charging, battery was running at 12.01 volts.
Belt for car started to crack (was very hard to replace without instruction, but after I figured it out it was a breeze).
Seats have started to wear badly, springs are piercing the material.
Trunk seal needs replacing.
Door pins needed replacing.
The steering wheel will not come off.
Very quick car without the air conditioning.
Very stylish if repainted (I repainted mine with a quasar blue metallic with 1998 Chrysler silver trim).
Tons of room in trunk and seat area's.
Very affordable for such a sleek car.
Cheap and I mean cheap on gas (even at present gas rate 76.9). $35 to fill the tank with middle grade gas (hint to other Z24 owners, use middle grade gas, it will make a lot of difference in the way your car runs).
Keeps others on their toes. I've been racing for about a year now and I've kicked some serious Mustang GT 5.0 litre buttskee. Learn how to drive your car, it's the driver not the car that wins the race (in English if you learn to drive your car well you can beat almost any car).
Very easy to add modifications to.
If you would like to see my car all done up drop an email to me at Frostbyte555@home.com and I'll give you the present web site where my car is.
I have a 88 cavalier, 2.8 v6 with 112,000 miles on it and it runs perfectly on 87 octane, (USA) lowest grade gas. On a recent long trip I got 32 miles per gallon on the highway. Using higher octane gas may cause excessive carbon deposits, which may be the reason why you are going to higher octane. I use fuel injector cleaner in the tank regularly, minimum every 2,500 miles.
I agree, the Z24 runs excellently on 87 octane.
Hi.
My name's Duane.
I just bought an '88 Cavalier Z24 two days ago. I don't even have the car yet! It's being safetied today. I'll most likely have it in my driveway by tomorrow. I can't wait. It really seems to be a great car for the price. I'll keep you updated on my experience with my new car!
Hey.
It's me Duane again. I got my, I got insurance, I got plates, and I've finally got it on the road, and wow. I love this car. It's fast, lots of pep, good on gas (especially for a 6 cylinder), and it just looks so darn awesome. I got a really good deal. The guy that I bought it off of kept REALLY good care of it. It has a brand new paint job, beautifully clean engine, no rust at all, spotless interior, sunroof, racing style pedals, new JVC cd deck, new exhaust with a chrome tip and a new performance muffler... and I got all this for only $2200. This isn't one thing wrong with car. I love it. Anywho. Gotta drive it. C-ya.
