"Low quality car"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Seriously under power. Transmission is vibrating & making noise when shifting at 3rd 0r 4th gear position. Remote sensor is a piece of junk, press more than 5 times to activate it.

General comments?

Even Proton machanics will tell you that Proton shouldn't build this model. It's not for me or everyone else to complain about the performance. Just accept it!

For the transmission problem, Proton machanics will advice you taken for granted. It is build like this!

Lastly, Proton Machanics explained that you left your car at frequency interference area, that's why you're having problem with the remote sensor!

My only commment is, hopefully at 2005 Malaysia open market year, they really build a good quality car...

I agree all he said. Indeed, Proton should build a good servicing team first. Their own staffs shouldn't just pointing finger at their own company, & do nothing to improve it. All this should be noticed by the top management of Proton, consumers are shifting away from you!

Agree with the comments above. I purchasde a new Proton Wira in Jan 2001. the moment I took the car, I noticed that my reverse sensors and lights were not workings. Following to that after two month, my horns were not working all of a sudden, it was replaced with warranty, but failed again after the warranty period. After a year the water pump was leaking and I have only done 25,000 KM. When I asked the Proton guys, they smile at me and say that it all depends on your luck. After 2 years the mechanic told me that my clutch had worn out advised me to use Mishubishi Parts. These is the end Product quality that a person gets at the end of the day. If I ever to buy another car... it would not be a PROTON.

I bought my Wira Aeroback 1.3Gli on Jan 2002,The performance only got better after I did some modifications to the exhaust system. Before that I had to use 2nd gear to climb a 15 degree incline . My nightmare started at 17000KM when the drive shaft suddenly fell off. Huarghhhhh I've never seen any car so bad as this. Even my dad's car at 30 years old never, I repeat never, give that kind of problem and never changed the drive shaft. What an embarassing quality.

Proton again for my next car???absolutely not... even now I am considering to buying a new Hyundai Accent, because it's affordable and reliable, price and quality proven by their WRC series.

Hmmm now my car has given me another problem.. suddenly cutting out when at low rpm... what a car???gives me a dilemma..

I bought a second hand proton Wira 1.3 Gli (2002)

well, at first after reading all the comment I got nervous thinking that I have a useless piece of metal. But when I drive the car it was totally opposite. I drove my wira once for more than 500km without stopping and it was goin smoothly. Even once it was loaded with 5 peoples and we were going up a hill and I didn't faced any pickup or felt underpowered. So far there is no any malfunctions or high maintenance. It's a nice car, but I just cant understand why there are some bad comments for it. Anyway I am happy enough with my Wira 1.3Gli.

I don't understand why there are some owner still very happy with their wira 1.3.may be they are sleeping when driving. i drive a wira 1.3 year 2002,its suck, seriously under-power, need more distance to overtake a car, even worst when overtake bus express (thus danger to our life).low quality part make me lost confidence to proton,"proton" will not be my second car, i swear.

WIRA 1.3 Gli 2002? I've got a brand new of this car which I bought on July 2002. Nothing's bad had happened until last week. The cam remote sensor fault. The car even can't start! If I got another chance to buy a new car it's confirm not a brand of PROTON...

Yes, the power window sucks, the dashbaord vibrates violently when travlling above 100 kph, and even worse, my sisters wira, well- maintained, about only 6 years old, has rusting roof and side doors... god proton is ripping us poor people off...

I have a PROTON WIRA 1.6XLI and it sucks. Even though I maintained it well with regular maintenance and Service with normal driven speed the transmission gave away all of a sudden with grinding on the 4th gear. The car has been used for 5 years and on 90k mileage.

I bought my brand new Wira 1.3Gli back in 2002, and the first problem I discovered was the difficulty to change from gear 2 to 3. One has to be very familiar with those gears, in order to drive my car. And the most annoying thing is that, whenever I stop the car (ie: at traffic lights) the whole dashboard including my steering and some cheap plastic compartment under it will start vibrating, unless I switch off the air cond. Anyway, I had removed the most vibrated compartment just to reduce the sound. My cousin commented "it is rather normal for a 1.3.." Normal? Sigh...

People buying Proton because it offers one of cheapest car in the market, but still, RM 47k is NOT that cheap for a "tin Milo". My next car will definitely is NOT a Proton, no matter how "unpatriotic" I will be labeled later on.

Basically, I do agree with certain complains that post by others. For e.g. under power when climbing hill and power window needs to be replaced and the speedometer malfunction after 1 year. However, I own a Proton Wira Aeroback 1.3GLi for almost 5 years. It doesn't give me that much problem, I did replace the power window motor, but it is after 3 years. About the under power problem is quite obvious when going up hill area.

However, I do like my Proton Wira Aeroback and quite satisfy with it since the price of this car is not that expensive where you can get a good handling and sporty look model.
