Had to replace A/C compressor at 67K miles, EGR valve at 65K. Even with new A/C compressor this unit struggles in the Florida heat.
Door trip has come off several times.
Brakes are still going strong at 70K - surprised to not have replaced those yet.
Considering what I paid for this car 4.5 years ago, the resale value is bad. Had a bought the Honda CRV, I would have almost 3K more in resale today not to mention the maintenance headaches I have endured.
Isuzus in my opinion are a poor man's Honda. Parts are VERY expensive also. I had an 89 Trooper a while back and it basically fell apart after 100K miles. I should have learned my lesson then. I will not buy another Isuzu.
The quality of this particular survey in my opinion was POOR. The bashing needs reliable facts. Possibly the following:
1) Year of Make
2) Was purchase a NEW or USED?
3) If used was it purchased through an individual?
4) Is this a 2WD or 4WD?
5) Was the suggested Maintenance followed?
6) Was the Rodeo ever in a collision?
I had a 1998 Trooper that was solid as a rock. Sold it with over 120,000 miles with very little work beyond scheduled maintenance. My 2001 4x2 Rodeo is an entirely different story. Between the transmission problems and the door seals leaking to the point of not being able to open the rear doors from the inside (my wife thought the child locks were on) and Isuzu's lack of help have left me with nothing but contempt for their company. The truck has been in 6 times for the door seals and now with it out of warranty they are no longer covering anything. The dealer and Isuzu USA told me that it doesn't matter they were unable to repair the problem while under warranty (they only had six chances). It is not covered now so it is my problem. This truck was purchased new in April of 2001 and was first "repaired" for the leaky seals in June of that year. This month we had our elderly mothers get trapped in the back seats due to the doors sticking (unable to open from the inside). I would feel guilty unloading this thing on some poor unsuspecting buyer, but I am done with it. I feel lucky though I havent had as many problems as some. No vehicle is perfect but it sounds like Isuzu has burried their head in the sand when it comes to the problems with their Rodeos. FYI... 2001 Rodeo for sale. 66,000 miles. Rear seat hardly ever used. Rear doors even used less!
