I have a 2004 (54 plate) L200 warrior, I have had it since new and in that time its had a new cylinder head twice, new turbo, new wheels - all under warranty, now the small ends gone, 2 weeks out of warranty and mitsubishi customer care, well... don't care!

Now deciding whether its worth cutting my losses, only at 41k miles and I have lost confidence altogether with this manufacturer and model.

By the way this was my 2nd L200, the first one I had was written off when I lost it going round a relativly slow bend at only 50 mph, in slightly damp roads, it rolled over and none of the air bags opened.

Still asking myself now why on earth I bought another one.

Seriously thinking about the nissan equivilant as my mate has had one for 4 years and has had no problems, also a lot better in the wet as the rear end isn't near as slippy.

ANYONE ELSE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE SMALL END? AS I AM GOING TO PERSUE THIS FURTHER WITH MITSUBISH AND WOULD BE INTERESTED TO SEE IF THIS IS A COMMON FAULT.

I bought an L200 2002 model 2 years ago just to carry my dogs. Worst mistake I have ever made.

It's been in garages for repairs a total of 12 weeks all in all; loss of power and smoking.

Repairs nearly up to two thousand pounds.

The dealer is the worst of the lot.

Still have the problem and unable to sell the vehicle. Is there anyone out there who can help me?

WOW, WHAT AN EYE OPENER. I came on this thread to see if there was any advice when going to view one to buy, and am I glad I did. I never realised they have had so many problems. I'm seriously hoping I do not regret going to look at the one I have arranged. I will definitely come on here later and let you know how it went. I am just a bit upset that the truck I've been looking forward to viewing all day, could very well turn out to be a dog.

Cheers people.

A potentially unhappy l200 Warrior buyer.

After reading all these comments its the nissan for me. mitsubishi must get their act sorted, and until then don't buy.

I have a l200 warrior 05 plate and it has only got 29500 miles on the clock. I bought it from new and the clutch has gone.

Is this covered by the warranty?

My L200 has just blown up, was searching around to see if this was an isolated incident... Obviously not.

I got about 30 seconds notice was driving along at about 70 on motorway and got a banging sound from under the bonnet, backed off to about 50 and then total loss of power and black smoke from exhaust.

Once recovered we lifted the bonnet and there is a hole in the engine that you can get your arm through! The con rod? was swinging around by the front suspension and smashed the starter motor off on its way out of the engine.

Now not sure if to replace engine or cut losses??

It's a 54 plate Warrior, owned from new and regularly serviced, done 60K.

Hi I'm the guy who bought an L200 to carry my dogs. Finally got it fixed, another 900 pounds; bottom crank pulley that drives the timing belt, a bolt loose, threads worn, engine timing all to pot, causing all my problems. Also had the head skimmed and gasket replaced. Now it runs without smoking and starts first time. The Mitsubishi L200; it's soft.

My 53 L200 run it`s big end without warning, got crank reground, new con rod, main and big end shells head was skimmed and engine rebuilt only to find that it is breathing through the radiator, and we suspect a cracked head. Clutch also slipping!!Going to remove engine again. Lost all faith in this vehicle and after reading these comments I can`t believe that people still buy them,

Thanks to eveyone who has provided information on the L200, I was going to buy one, looks as if I am better off sticking to my Nissan D21. Sites like these are excellent in providing the information people need PRIOR TO BUYING.

Hi there, I'm glad I'm not the only person who is having troubles with the L200. I've had my L200 for 4 months now and I'm repairing it for the 2nd time, the bottom pulley, a rubbish design. Luckily this time it didn't do the cambelt. Once it's done it's going straight on eBay and then I'm going to buy myself a wheelbarrow; at least with that the only thing you have to replace is the inner tube.
