I LOVE my 2004 Aveo LS. I bought it in November of '04, and the only time I had to take it in was when I got an oil change and they didn't tighten something properly. I'm just now looking at new front tires, after almost 4 years. I get terrific gas mileage, it's fun to drive and easy to park. And it's really spacious inside; I can fit 3 people in the backseat fairly comfortably, and with the backseats down I can haul a ton of cargo!
I'm so happy with this car and have no regrets.
Hi I have a 2004 Aveo. Had to replace the engine with one we found that only had 24k on it. My issue is that the engine light will not go out and it will not shift into over drive. Had the car to a transmission place and they said the transmission is good. Need to resolve issues with the engine light because when reset, the car does shift into over drive, but engine light comes back in 5 minutes. Anyone know how to solve this issue?
I have Aveo LT 2007 with 6k miles (all freeway) and the only problem I've had is that it does pull to the right, and between 40mph-45mph and 55 it shakes... very odd.
That's not odd at all, it pulls to the right cause its out of alignment, and get your tires balanced and rotated, and that vibration will stop.
We have a 2004 chevy aveo with about 80k miles. Tonight the thing would hardly shift out of "park", and the brake lightsquit working. Anyone know whats wrong with this car? THANKS.
I drive a Chevy LS 2004 1.4.
My ignition coils caused the CEL light to come on. Mileage is only 42k km and 3+ years ownership.
I have 2004 Chevy Aveo LS. The car only has 60,000 miles on it. The timing belt broke and has no compression going to the engine, which made the engine go up. I will never buy this car again. I see I'm not the only one that had the same problem with this same ordeal. Maybe Chevy needs to have this fixed.
I am the owner of a 2004 Chevy Aveo. It has been the most troublesome vehicle I have ever owned. Chevy should have passed on this one. Bought it use at a Chevy dealership with 58k on it and the timing belt let go at 65k 1200$ later back on the road. 2 weeks later the thermostat housing split where it was glued(factory). 40$ later back on the road. At 85k both front struts let go 300$ later back on the road about 90k right front cv joint/axial went 294$ + 50 to a friend back on the road. Now My son overfilled the crank case with oil (about 2 qt over) and it is knocking loudly on the top end. drained the oil new filter and correct amount of oil and it still knocks. any ideas? oil pump? wiped cam? I sure wish I had left this one alone!
I purchased a 2004 Aveo. I went through the stock set of tires in about 20k Kms. The balancing should have come stock no?
I then had an air box assembly go; it was seized shut. (not even a year old, and not covered by warranty).
I then had my head light issue. About every three months I was changing one or the other.
I didn't get anywhere near the gas mileage they suggested I would.
My factory car alarm would go off for no reason, and not work other times.
My clock would reset all the time; this was covered and they told me it was just a fuse. Kept happening.
I then got the car to 99K kms and the car stopped running (with no warning). I now have the cutest little lawn ornament.
I would recommend this car to absolutely no one ever unless they did me wrong. So whom ever built it, I recommend this car to you. I'm very upset...
Yesterday, I spent $227. to have the transmission on my my 2005 Aveo flushed and power steering fluid replaced. I was given an estimate for the 60,000 mile service--$1400! After reading the other comments, I definitely won't let it get all the way to 60,000 (I have 5,000 miles left.)
Today, the gear shift lock is on. This means that every time I stop, I have to remove the shift lock cover, press the key into the shift lock, put the car in neutral, and re-start the car.
Does anybody know what this will involve to fix? Yikes!
If you cannot move your gear shift lever out of park, your brake light switch is bad. This switch controls both the brake lights and shifter solenoid. (Check to see if your brake lights are working). The switch is easy to replace and cheap. It is located under the dash at the top of the brake pedal.
I could not shift out of Park, I took the car to the dealer... they already had a bulletin from Chevy (headquarters I guess) stating this is a known problem.
They said they found the solenoid shorted and the brake light switch had to be replace, cost $230. Apparently, the dealer charged me for finding out what was wrong, although there is a bulletin that already says it.
Never buying car again and don't recommend it.
I hear everyone's pain.
You're never buying a car again?
Let us know how that works out for you.
