Add another 2002 Trailblazer to the list. Heads all turn and look expecting to see a semi roaring through their neighborhood. The service engine soon light came on, but I drove it around long enough for it to go back off again!
Also, right and left brake lights not working - put new bulbs in - oddly, they worked for about 15 minutes.
Right front speaker goes in and out - mostly out.
A/C and Heat slowly dying - right now can only get either on Setting 3.
Hmmm...I wonder why GM finally lost the lead to Honda? If they don't take care of this whole clutch fan issue I'll be going there as well.
2003 LTZ 51,088 miles the Jet Engine noise started after I was towing a small trailer from Gulfport to New Orleans.
I took it to Banner Chevy in New Orleans East and they said it was the Fan Clutch $370 for the part and $300 for the labor. He said he would only charge me for the labor. They had it fixed in 3 hours.
But GM should recall this part.
"No Friendly neighbor, it wasn't the Air National Guard practicing this time. It was my 2002 pewter trailblazer." This is amazing. 2 months after having to replace the fuel pump for $800. Good luck ya'll.
03 chevy trailblazer 79k, replaced water pump, drivers side hub bearing, thermostat, and fan clutch.
My 2002 TB started the continuous "Jet Noise" (with all the lead into symptoms mentioned) about a month ago, I took it to a GM dealership today and they told me the AC Condenser has burned up and needed replacement and the 4WD light / switch isn't working / engaging and total est. cost of repairs would be $1780. I guess I know what the real problem is now!
As for the other post on the climate control fan, I had that replaced last fall, they said it was a relay that went bad, around $200 to replace, with labor.

Does anyone have a problem with any of their doors controls not working in colder temps, 40 deg. or lower. When ever it gets cold here (MICHIGAN) the power to the passenger door stops, I have to unplug the door from the harness (in the door hinge jam) and re-plug it in, to get the windows and locks to resume working!!! How frustrating, I am also looking to Toyota for my next vehicle, hopefully in the next few weeks!!!

03 Trailblazer 75k Fan-clutch just went today didn't know what it was. First thought transmission was slipping, thinking that I was hearing the sound of the engine. Then after inspection found fan clutch semi locked up. Bought one for 189.00 and going to do the work myself. Sure didn't know everybody was having trouble until today. but if GM doesn't do something about this, it's not only going to cost us,it's going to cost them.
WOW was I shocked at all the others having the same problem as me with a fan clutch. I have an 02 TB that used to only rev fast occasionally, but its all the time now. Price for part only ranges from $169 online to $373 at the dealer. Junk yards are no help at all since any they had were quickly taken due to the huge demand. I called my dealer to check for recall and they have no knowledge of one. I for one will save my receipts and attempt to install it myself. This is ridiculous. With what I read here today I won't chance it with a used one. Other than that I love my TB for ride and comfort, but they are surely pushing me towards a foreign make. I will watch this site for news of a recall or class action. Thanks all who wrote.
Add another Trailblazer to the list. Mine is an '04 LT model with 39,000 miles. Fan Clutch and Water Pump Pulley replaced. As well as power steering lines that were leaking. A total of $2500 bill at the dealership-- under extended United Auto extended warranty (thank god!) so I paid only a $50 deductible. Love the car but have had NOTHING but problems with it since I purchased it used 6 months ago.
Class action lawsuit, anyone?

Same problem as everyone else. I just took my 02 trailblazer in to check out the loud coolant fan noise. They said it needs to be replaced and that they had another person come in with the same problem. 400 for the part and 290 for the labor. GM needs to recall this part.
Add yet another '05 Trailblazer to the mix. I too have had this issue with the car sounding like a semi. Used to be more random and less often and check engine light would come on and go off before I could even get to the dealership. Now it's been on for over a week and the noise happens at least twice a day now. It's getting worse and I'm about to call the dealership to see what they'll do for me since it's got 58,000 miles on it and not under warranty anymore. I took it in for this problem twice before (under warranty) and they told me it was nothing.
Add a 2002 Oldsmobile Bravada with almost 93000 miles to the list for a fan clutch. I have also had the AWD sensor and assembly replaced, not once, but twice at a price of $900 and $1500. The $1500 version was the first time and it included a power steering pump. Now the fan clutch and the part price alone is $372.
I have a 2001 Trailblazer and after reading all the comments about the fan clutch, thought I would leave one too. After 2 years of having the vehicle (bought it in 2002), the fan clutch went out. Took it to the Chevy dealer, they wanted almost $900 to fix it. Thankfully, had a friend who was able to buy the part at cost and put it in. The truck was only 3 years old when that part went out... and no, the extended warranty did NOT cover it... said it wasn't part of the cooling system.
Same problem. Jet noise and no power on acceleration. 2000 Chevy Blazer. It started at 45,000 miles. Perservered with annoyance until now but mechanic said it was responsible for the a/c compressor going bad.
I did get a mechanic's quote here in Houston for $300. Will schedule in for tomorrow.
My wife and I went out car shopping yesterday. Guess where we didn't' go.
Add another 2002 Trailblazer to the list...64,000 miles and my truck now sounds like an 18-wheeler...dealer wants in the neighborhood of $900.
