I Purchased a 2004 Mazda 6 in Dec 2007 the car had only 16k from a Mazda dealership. My wife and my daughter were driving on busy Highway near Toronto Airport and the car lost all power they almost got killed, stuck in the middle on the highway. We tow the car to the Dealer and Thank god I purchased an extended warranty as new vehicle from Mazda and had the papers to prove it because they said that they couldn't find the warranty registered. The dealership had no sympathy that my spouse and my daughter almost got killed and no loaner was offered. Next they told me that the alternator and battery was the problem and I find that hard to believe how a car with only 30k will lose them both the same time. Anyway I hope they fix the problem and is not a computer problem. I guess no more zoom zoom from me.
I bought a 2005 Mazda 6s new, and cannot believe that I just found this website. I have had ALL of those problems and one more.
I have had the car die suddenly, losing all electrical power. Lucky for me, unlike like some of the above people, I was stopped at a gas station. It was like the car had an electrical storm, lights were flashing things were buzzing, the dash was going wild. It took the dealer 2 weeks to fix my car, in the end telling me it was a dead battery.
A week later I noticed the fog lamps were burned out, I really think they were blown during the electrical madness that occurred however they told me, not possible and not covered under warranty.
Next, several months later when the car was 2 years 6 months old, I noticed rust on a door window part. I was 171 miles over 50000, I was told sorry not covered, your over 50000 and it's not a part covered under the rust warranty.
Latest issues is, I notice rust along bottom edge of all four doors, the hood and wheel wells. Brought car to dealer, car is now 3 years 4 months old. Again, not rusty enough to be covered under 5 year rust warranty.
Just went and bought a fully loaded 2008 Audi A6 and dumped the Mazda. Last Mazda I will own.
I own a 05 Mazda 6, blew the engine @ 24827 miles! $4800!
For as long as I have been driving; 30+ yrs. I have always checked my oil every other wash; twice a month.
I currently have 35114 miles on the "new" engine.
Less than 1000 miles after the dealer changed the oil, I'm low 1 quart!! Anybody have similar problems? My past vehicle, a Nissan Maxima, I maintained & drove to 300k miles.
I have a 2007 Mazda 6 V6 and only has 15000 miles on it. I have had the same problem with it losing about a quart every 3000 miles. Took to the Mazda dealership (sorry to say) and they told me that they can't find any reason why it is loosing oil. It is getting worse by the month, and if the problem does not get fixed, bye bye zoom zoom. (thanks to the Colorado lemon law) I will never own another Mazda again!!!
I've got an '06 v6 ATX and when I was at a stop light, I pressed on the pedal and felt a jolt. I looked down and saw that my AT and my CHECK ENGINE lights were on, and my gear indicator said I was in third gear, and it was stuck in third until I shut it off and restarted the car. The dealership (bob moore mazda okc) said it was a comm. error with the TCM, and flashed it and did a software update. An hour later, the same thing (happened again), and then 2 more times that day. Any suggestions? PS: the computer displayed a U7300 code.
I have a 2006 V6 ATX, last week the car stalled in stop and go traffic. I have noticed that the transmission has been shifting unusually, but not enough to convince the dealer. Wish I had got a manual instead, everything else about the car is great.
I own a 2006 Mazda 6 V6 automatic and I too have the same crappy transmission issues you've been talking about. Both the jump from 6th to 4th gear when braking going down a hill, and a transmission that slips gears and doesn't shift half the time.
My latest adventure happened when I was merging into 70 MPH traffic on the NYS thruway and the car wouldn't shift, RPM went to zero, car shut off so I lost power steering and power brakes. Lucky for me the 18 wheeler was able to swerve and miss killing me.
Have 47000 miles and have brought to Mazda several times. Maybe when I get killed my family will get some money from all my troubles. Thanks a ton Mazda.
I have been having the same "jolting" problem with my 2005 Mazda 6. When I am trying to pass on the highway or going up a hill, it also jumps out of gear, and you have to let off the gas in order for it to kick back into gear. It is in the shop as we speak, and I dropped it off on Tuesday and they tell me it won't be ready until the next Tuesday or later. They are replacing the transmission. They told me that there are a lot of broadcasts out about this problem so basically Mazda told their dealerships to take care of this problem by replacing the transmissions. Mazda really screwed up on the '05's! Otherwise, I love my Mazda and can't wait to get it back.
I've had my 2005 Mazdz6 since Christmas 05. I've been through the check engine problem. I've had my headliner replaced because it fell down. I had to have the back door arm rest plastic pieces on both doors replaced because they were cracked. I've had a new transmission put in when it was less than a year old. It started with problems shifting while driving like a lot of you are complaining about. I had it in 2 times for this problem and was told each time it was fixed. The third time I was on the highway going 70 mph when it all of a sudden felt like it was in neutral. Thank God it wasn't rush hour or there would have been a major accident. I had to put it into manual shift to get it to move again. I took it right to the dealership and they kept it for a day and told me there was nothing wrong. I refused to take it back until they found it. I had one of their mechanics drive it home that night. He had the same problem on his way into work the next morning... they replaced the transmission. I've also had it in 4 times so far for my a/c blowing hot air. Each time they've said it was something and swore it was fixed. Well this last time they said they don't know why it happens. I'm done..I'm looking to trade it in but not for another Mazda. By the way the car I bought was in the showroom..so much for buying "the best".
I have a Mazda6 5dr, which while accelerating transmission would jump out of gear. Changed the transmission body as per Mazda bulletin 05/16/06, no problem since.
Bought a 2004 Mazda 6 GT. Brake are rusty. Squeaky noise on break pedal when depressing.
I bought a brand new 2005 Mazda6 and its given me more headaches than I can handle. Mazda Customer Service is appalling. I've had 4 transmission problems with the car and it has less than 40K miles. After the transmission was all together replaced, the car died on the expressway in pouring rain only 4 weeks later. I have been fighting with Mazda to get an extended warranty on the car because of all these issues, but they have denied my request but instead will look into a "goodwill" offering of a free car payment, gift card, etc. Hm.. if a car company would rather give you hundreds of dollars then an extended warranty... what does that tell you about their own faith in their vehicles? Never buying a Mazda again.
Our '06 Mazda with the 3.0 V6 and 6 speed auto. suffered the same 5th/6th gear downshift banging in and out of gear upon hard acceleration. We visited the dealer armed with a printout of the TSB which addresses this issue as it relates to the valve body. After all of 5 minutes, the technician placed a call into Mazda with our VIN # and mileage (45,000) and he was promptly told to replace the entire transmission under warranty. He indicated he's seen so many of these he didn't even need to test drive the car to know the problem! He indicated to me that had the car not been under warranty, we'd be looking at a $6,000+ repair bill!!!!
I bought an 05 Mazda 6 3.0l wagon new in 05.
I've experienced some of the problems listed here, aside from the dash / door squeaks and tranny problems - although I did buy a standard. I do have that knocking sound at low rpms, at least that's when I can hear it.
I do love the car and it pulls and handles pretty good. Gas mileage aint the best but it is a 6 cylinder.
If anyone can shed any light on the knocking, I'd appreciate it.
Pete in Ottawa.
