2003 Oldsmobile Alero GL review from North America
"Another GM lemon!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The blower motor went out at 50,000 miles.
The sunroof drives me crazy! I'm not sure why, but whenever I go over the slightest bump in the road, it makes an odd snapping/creaking sound.
There are tons of other little noises due to poor quality manufacturing of the interior. There is way too much plastic.
The driver's seat wobbles back and forth. It also makes a squeaking sound when it wobbles.
The paint on the radio dials seems to be chipping off, and the entire tuner knob has fallen off altogether.
While at a stoplight, the car feels like it is about to die. I'm not sure if it's a bad fuel pump or maybe fuel injectors, but it's getting progressively worse.
I have to hit the dome light a few times in order for it to turn on.
The lights behind the speedometer flicker from normal brightness to dark for no apparent reason.
Every now and again, the car sounds like it doesn't want to start. It always does, but I'm not sure if that's an indicator that something is going bad??
General comments?
This car is absolutely horrible. When I first bought it (about 8 months ago) there was nothing wrong with it at all. Everything ran perfectly, there were no noises, and it was enjoyable to drive. Now here I am only 8 months later and the whole thing is falling apart. I would not recommend this car to anybody. What happened to Oldsmobile? They used to make great cars! I will never buy GM again. I wish I had gone foreign. Buyer beware!
