1994 Geo Metro 2 door 1.0L 3 cylinder from North America

Summary:

Commuter special!

Faults:

Hood latch rusted -replaced with junkyard part.

Replaced original clutch at 125,000.

Driver window track worn- replaced with junkyard parts.

Replaced brakes and wheel bearings.

General Comments:

I was given this car from the original owner. I drive it daily in all weather. (handles great in the snow!) I am 6'-1" and can fit comfortably in the car. I get 45-52 Miles per gallon. It is fun to drive is quite peppy and handles fairly well. I found that parts are cheap and readily available (new and used). I does however, gets "lost" in traffic, I don't think other drivers see it all that well. It costs me about 5 cents a mile to drive and maintain. I will drive it until the wheels fall off!

I just got my little Geo, and I like it a lot! It's small, but a great first car. It's also great for learning to drive an automatic transmission.

1994 Geo Metro XFI 3 cylinder. from North America

Summary:

Dependable with great gas mileage

Faults:

The only thing that I have had to do to this car is replace the distributor cap and spark plugs. Other than that it's been a great car. Gutless? Yes. But it gets great gas mileage.

General Comments:

I like the 40 miles per gallon, but this thing is pretty gutless. So if you're looking for power and good accelleration look somewhere else. But if you like good gas mileage and a dependable vehicle, (at least mine has been) this is a pretty good car. It's been a great first car because the gas mileage is great, and the parts are cheap. I was quoted $400.00 for a rebuilt engine. A bad thing I had to deal with was high insurance. I'm not sure if it has so much to do with the car than just my age. Obviously if one of these things got in a wreck it would be totalled, so that could be a factor. Some other downs to this car is the cramped room inside and the loud road noise at high speeds.

I have a 94 Geo Metro. It's a VERY fun car to drive, though it's not visually appealing. I, too, am incredibly pleased with the gas mileage. My biggest concern in this car is not the insurance, since what I save on the gas goes to insurance, rather I am scared stiff about getting into a wreck. Just being rear ended could ruin the back half of the car and injure anyone unfortunate enough to be stuck in the back seat, which is a very cramped space. I can imagine a full wreck on a freeway to end up with my death. I'd say this is an EXCELLENT car, however, as long as you don't plan on going at high speeds constantly. For inner city and suburban use, I'd give this a 15/10 because it's so cheap to maintain/

1994 Geo Metro from North America

Summary:

The Metro is the one car I would like to buy again

Faults:

The window on the driver's side sticks. I have taken it to the dealer twice to fix it - but it was not really fixed well at all. The door handle on the driver's side broke and I had to have it replace. The inside light's cover kept falling down. The inside rear view mirror messed up. I could not change it from day time to night time. I ended up having to have it replace. The gaskets started leaking and had to have them replaced.

General Comments:

I now have 110,000 miles on this car and would like to find another one, but I have had no luck. The dealer said this car is not make anymore... That is a shame.

1994 Geo Metro 3 cylinder from North America

Summary:

Very tough little car

Faults:

The only item I've ever had problems with is the timing belt.

General Comments:

This little car really stood its ground. We were in a head-on collision with a semi. After we hit the semi, the car spun a few times and ended up teetering on the edge of the ditch. Tough little car.
