2000 Ford Focus review from North America

The main issue well one of them were the brakes. The issues with the brakes started almost immediately the car was purchased "brand new" off the lot. Everytime I got into the car which was my "JOB" and with my children we feared for our lives. The brakes would not stop at a red light or stop sign on perfectly dry pavement and did I ever get lucky not causing an accident and or death to either my children or someone else. The car was seen by Gambino for service department of lockport several times for this issue and always told they was nothing wrong.

However, after several times of bringing the car in for the same brake issue they also squeaked and squeeled and was advised the rotors were cracked almost in half after about 7,000 miles. Also I paid for the anti lock brake system which never, ever worked on ice, snow or wet slushy pavement. They looked at it again and had a Ford Rep come out and have another Ford company look at the brakes. Again they advised me that there was not a thing wrong with the brakes. What a nightmare a death trap waiting to happen and there was absolutely no one to help me. I tried in vain to have the lemon law enforced to no avail and also the Attorney Generals office for the state of NY. They would not help me and neither would any of the Channels in the area.

So much time wasted and being a single mom working full time and raising 3 busy children, I thought I was going to have a breakdown.

RECALLS - Ha there were so many that the dealers were not even aware of them until I have brought the car in for another problem.

Clutch had to be replaced after 3,200 miles just on the car.

Bearings had to be replaced.

While driving on the thruway my side view mirror blew off. It only did not fly into an on coming car due to the wire that was inside the mirror.

Car stalled out several times while driving on the streets. This time the fuel pump needed to be replaced.

Last year I did have an accident at work and have been out of work for a year and will require 2 surgeries which caused me to have the car reposed due to income loss. Now a lawyers firm has been sending me nasty letters that they want me to pay them the balance of 12,000, if I could not pay for the car when I had it and I am still not working and receiving compensation they want the money or threatened me that they will take the monies from my only source of income.

The car is a lemon a piece of junk and many parts I was advised are cheap parts from Mexico and were put together there.

I would never, ever advise anyone to purchase this type of car nor would I ever purchase a Ford product again.

Where is the justice I thought we were Americans.
