2000 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP review from North America

"The best poor mans Lexus or BMW out there!"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Air conditioner did not work when I bought the car. Tried to refill freon and compressor would not take freon charge. Need to take in to mechanic.

Back right strut is going out. Makes grinding noise in fast left turns.

General comments?

This is the best car I have owned. Completely reliable.

Exceptionally fast for a family sedan. I am 25 and single and looked at Camaros, Trans Ams and many other sport cars of all years. This GTP has just as good handling and for the money and gas and insurance is a much better deal. This car drives like a dream.

I have smoked all Civics, an Iroc-Z that was modified, an Ininity Q-45, and a Mitsubishi 3000. Other than the plastic knobs on the interior, I like my $13,000 GTP better than my friends $50,000 Q-45.

With less than $1000, I can get the GTP well over 300 horses. New intake $100. Smaller super charger pulley $40. New exhaust$500. A tranny cooler for the added horses $85. I have friends that have pumped thousands into their little Honda Civics and other little 4 and 6 cylinders and still can't beat my stock GTP. So far all I have done is put in a K&N air filter.

This car is cheap for parts and easy to work on. For the price range it is the best car out there. I looked and researched hundreds of cars for months before finally deciding on the GTP. All my friends love it and it really catches the eyes of the girls.

Plenty of extras. I have the sunroof, heated seat, leather interior, Bose sound system that sounds incredible, HUD heads up display, and a performance shift button that keeps the RPM's almost to the redline before shifting. You can turn this on and off to save gas as you wish.

I drove from Oklahoma City to Dallas for a NASCAR race with 4 big guys. We had plenty of room and we were all very comfortable the entire way therand back. Everyone at the NASCAR race loved my GTP and I got plenty of compliments with my new alloy wheels that match the blue/black metallic paint job (stock paint) beautifully.
