2002 Renault Laguna Grand Tour Initiale review from Netherlands
"Very good car for a great price"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Surprisingly (if I look at other reviews), very little has gone wrong with our car. On two occasions, the remote for the radio didn't work after starting the engine. Restarting it fixed that.
There have been a few rattles and squeaks, but they've all been sorted out.
Engine doesn't sound as good as it used to, but this will be looked at in the next few days. I still performs as it should (acceleration and fuel consumption are fine).
General comments?
Overall we have been very satisfied with this car. Build quality is acceptable, though not really up to German standards.
Handling is OK for a sedan. It doesn't really seem to like corners, but is a nice traveler's car.
Biggest letdown is the somewhat quirky automatic, which sometimes has a hard time making up its mind when to shift gears. Presumably this has something to do with it adapting to your driving style, but it doesn't always work that well.
Performance is very good and fuel consumption has been pretty good for such a large engine. It hasn't been hard at all to return less than ten liters for every hundred kilometers, something which can't be said about any of our previous V6-cars (or our Volvo 5 cylinder, for that matter)
Reliability has been perfect and the dealer has been incredibly helpful in resolving the minor issues we've had.
