1995 Honda Accord EX 2.2

Summary:

This car has been a great investment and I would buy another Honda in a heart-beat!

Faults:

In 10 years, almost nothing other than regular maintenance. The driver-side power window motor is about to die, but I'm surprised it took this long!!

General Comments:

This car rides very well, is very reliable, and looks great! I bought it in a hurry when my previous Honda Civic was totaled in an accident (thanks to a red-light running Ford Explorer). Purchased from someone in sales, the Accord had a lot of miles when it was just 2 years old, so I wasn't sure what to expect. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Visibility is great in this car, which helps a lot in congested, city driving. Lots of seating control allows me (and any other guest driver) to establish a great driving position. Still looks great - people are always surprised to find out its age. Have had a few parking lot scrapes and one fender-bender; the repairs don't show much with the light gold color. Leather interior helps... a little Armour All and it keeps a crisp look even at the ripe old age of 12.

I sometimes miss having a little bit sportier-looking car (like the Civic Coupe that got destroyed), but I must not miss it too much because I'm rolling year 10 with the Accord this month. I'm at 201,000 miles now and planning to make it to 300,000.

1995 Honda Accord EX 2.2

Summary:

Great for poor college kids

Faults:

The only things I have had to buy for this car, in two years and 40,000 miles, is 1 control arm, 1 ball joint, and a set of new tires (which I am going to get later this month).

General Comments:

This will probably be the best car I ever own. I reccomend it so much to kids that have to go to school (like me) and as a result can't afford to spend $500 a month on repairs/customizations on their car. Granted, it is a Honda, so it is plain, small, thin, and generaly a "boring car", but it will be the best INVESTMENT you will make if you can't afford to constantly spend money on a car, whether it be in repairs or payments.

On a side note, I bought the car in good condition, with 140,000 miles, and I plan on selling it in a few months, in which it will probably have 180,000 miles. I bought the car for $5500 and have recently been offered $3800 for it. I think that depreciation value is excellent. Great for poor college kids, rich college kids should buy an Audi.

If you like this car so much, why did you give it a sad face?

This is the original poster, I can't believe I found this, or even remembered that I posted this. Oh yeah, I didn't mean to have a sad face, I don't remember why that is on there. Maybe the ratings I had to do? I don't know.

Anyway, I still have the car. Now it has 240,000 miles, and drives great. Since that post I have had a new thermostat put in and the brakes done. That's it. I guess I got the opposite of a lemon or something. It drives straight, doesn't make a whole lot of noise, gets great mileage, etc. I think it depends on the driver somewhat, and I have always driven this car slow.

1995 Honda Accord LX

Summary:

I loved my Accord!!!

Faults:

- Had a handful of problems with the brakes, they never seemed to be in A+ condition for long, although I was probably a little hard on them

- Developed a moderate left lean on the steering

- Blinkers stopped working once, had to have them replaced.

General Comments:

Turning radius wasn't fabulous, acceleration was pretty good, hardly had any problems despite mileage over 100k, car is pretty roomy, good-looking and comfortable, GREAT value, felt like it could have kept running for another 100k!

Unfortunately I was in an accident and totaled the car. Despite the fact that I was hit pretty hard on the left front, I walked away with not even a bruise. For this reason I will say that this vehicle is very safe!
