2002 Buick Rendezvous CX 3.4 from North America

Summary:

Very reliable, comfortable ride, and gets good mpg

Faults:

I bought my Buick Rendezvous in 2001, and have had very good service. So far for 98,000 miles, it has cost me $123.99 in repairs other than routine maintenance.

Original tires lasted 58,000 miles, and original brake pads 42,000 miles.

Brake rotors lasted 74,000 miles.

I had a bushing replaced when it was 5 years old.. I had hit a huge pot hole. And I just replaced the water pump, which I did myself in about 4 hours.. very easy to replace.

This has been a great vehicle.

General Comments:

I have had very good experience with my Buick, and I would recommend Buick to anyone. 3.4 V6, 185HP, I get between 25 and 28 MPG on the road, and 19 to 23 in town. That's better than a coworker's CRV 4cyl, and has much more room inside and rides much quieter and smoother.

The CRV boasts 72 cu ft of cargo space... my Buick has 108 cu ft of cargo space, and gets better mpg and has a powerful V6.

Quality items like stainless steel exhaust and galvanized metal body that still looks like new.

The brakes are so easy to replace because of the alloy bolts that have no rust; makes it so easy to maintain.

No signs of wear on the seats.

2002 Buick Rendezvous CX 3.4L from North America

Summary:

Great luck

Faults:

I've only had two things wrong with the car.

The first thing was the temp. sensing unit, which I've replaced, and I still have problems with it. The wiring harness is grounding out on itself, which trips a code. This has never been a big concern, since it is just an indication problem. I just make sure the coolant is good often.

The second problem was the front passenger hub assembly. GM had a recall on the part and extended the warranty out to 75,000 miles. I found mine bad at 76,000 (just my luck). The part was easy to change and wasn't very expensive (I think about $150).

I just got done doing routine maintenance on it for the first time. That's right; factory plugs and wire, transmission fluid and filter, belt, and battery, which is still going strong.

I've had a few fuse blow while driving i.e. aux power outlets and dash lights, but none of this was that bad.

General Comments:

This being my first family car has been nothing but good luck. All things that I've had to fix are just normal wear items, minus the hub assembly, which wasn't a big deal.

2002 Buick Rendezvous CXL 6 cylinder from North America

Summary:

A nice looking car, very visual, nice driving, comfort, and fun to drive. I like the large mirrors

Faults:

I had to buy a condenser, a head gasket blown, brake problems, short circuit in wiring.

I now have over 126,000 miles on my car or SUV... also a door switch for automatic windows...

General Comments:

A nice looking car/SUV, I like the large mirrors, it's so clear, the large windows to see the road for comfort and driving... just too many repairs...

2002 Buick Rendezvous CX 3.4 from North America

Summary:

Best SUV I could have bought. Happy with it

Faults:

Light mirror bulb at 5 years, cost $1.99.

8 drips of green fluid at 5 years, replaced hose (warranty) $0.

Hit a huge pot hole at 65mph... 1 bushing, $100,00.

Total repairs for 8.5 years, 94K miles; $101.99.

Plus have only replaced tires once... it has 94K miles now.

Brakes lasted 42K. Rotors lasted 74K. This is in mountainous PA... bad winters and potholes, almost all city hilly driving. Still has original exhaust. And never touched the engine, which runs very quiet and smooth.. no tune ups... spark plug wires.. nothing.

The Rendezvous looks like new, has no rust, and runs like new.

Yes.. I will be buying another GM... best vehicle I've ever owned.. foreign or domestic.

General Comments:

Buick builds a quality vehicle. Nicknamed the "Toolbox" by my daughter.. It has hauled refrigerators, post hole diggers, cement mixers, 4x8 sheets of plywood ladders, brick, stone and many full to the brim college trips.

The 110 cubic feet of cargo space is the most of any SUV, and it gets a easy 26mpg. I've gotten 28 on a trip by myself. Fully loaded we still get 25mpg.

The V6 engine is powerful, smooth and quiet... unlike moany groany noisy 4 cylinders.
