2000 Cadillac DeVille Northstar V8 from North America

Summary:

If you're going to be a chauffeur, might as well drive a Cadillac

Faults:

This car has been wonderful.

I also have a 97 Deville.

The 2000 has been good; only one problem when I hit water at 42000 miles, the transmission would not shift, the dealer rewired the speed control switch and it ran perfectly until 67500 miles, where it was replaced again, so at 8 years and 67800 miles I have spent 480 dollars on it.

I have driven a Cadillac since I was 16 years old, and will never buy anything else except for another Expedition, which has been the best truck I ever owned (780 dollars in 205000 miles).

General Comments:

Good acceleration, although I add between 2-3 quarts of oil in between oil changes, and I have never had the front end vibration like most people seem to have.

2000 Cadillac DeVille from North America

Summary:

Window regulators unacceptable

Faults:

Window malfunctions in three of four windows on my 2000 Cadillac Deville DTS. Window regulator cables broken inside door---had to replace new regulator assembly on all three windows.

It seems to me this is unacceptable for a Cadillac.

Had to install new crank and positioning sensors.

Had to install new bearing, tie rod, R/P bellow front hub assembly.

2000 Cadillac DeVille from North America

Summary:

Another GM lemon? I certainly hope not

Faults:

The back left passenger window and door has fallen apart, with minimal usage.

The gas gauge does not read accurately, it goes about half way down then back up and reads full when the tank is empty, must use odometer to gauge the next fill-up.

The front alignment tends to pull right, even after adjustment.

The cigarette lighter stopped working after minimal usage.

General Comments:

Overall I'm fairly happy withe the 2000 De Ville, but it doesn't quite have the cushy ride the older cars have had.

I've owned many Cadillacs over the years with mixed results and satisfaction. My 1993 turned over 190K miles before it finally conked out.

Cadillacs are expensive to maintain these days!

This car is a maintenance nightmare. It is back in the shop now because of a "SVC STABILIZATION SYS" warning on the Annunciator Panel. I am not confident it will be diagnosed and repaired. This will definitely be the last Cadillac I will ever own.

I have a Cadillac 2000 Deville DTS, in which I had and am having the same exact problems. This was my first American made car. I love the look of the Cadillac cars, but maintenance is just a problem.

2000 Cadillac DeVille Northstar from North America

Summary:

This car does not meet my standards

Faults:

I bought my car when it was two years old, and I must say this is the worst Cadillac I have owned. It is my 7th. I have had more than 140,00 miles on my other Cad's, but I've had nothing but problems with this one..

I've had the back window replaced, due to leaks.

The front end shakes like crazy, usually around 60-70mph.

My gas gauge goes from full to no gas constantly.

The rear stabilizer bars have been replaced.

The front ball joints.

And numerous other things.

General Comments:

This is the newest car I've bought (only 2 years when purchased), and I'm seriously considering selling it and buying a Lexus. I just can't picture myself in anything but a Cadillac. I've had 7.

2000 Cadillac DeVille DHS V8 from North America

Summary:

Great car, bad workmanship

Faults:

Excessive oil use. With engine knock.

Heated seats replaced.

Waterpump and radator.

Heater problems.

Brake problems.

General Comments:

Dealer does not want to fix knocks in the engine.

The car is a wonderful road car.

I also have two late model Mercedes; one 430 CLK, and a new R350. My Cadillac is the most comfortable to travel in.
