1995 Chevrolet Blazer LS 4.3L from North America

Summary:

Great in snow

Faults:

The ABS light is on, but it's just the sensor that I'm too lazy to fix.

General Comments:

Live in Canada, and the 4x4 is great in the snow. I love it, I don't mind paying a little higher for gas for the traction in the snow. It has been a reliable SUV, starting even under -30+ conditions.

You can find these vehicles cheaper than imports, and even when you repair the cost is cheaper. Parts are super cheap.

1995 Chevrolet Blazer from North America

Summary:

Good when it runs, too expensive to keep when it doesn't

Faults:

Bad O2 sensor X 2, bad gas tank pump, bad transmission, faulty transmission seals, bad CV joints on front end, loses wheel alignment easily, lost 4-wheel drive capability, A/C motor died, bad alternator, battery drain, bad body joint welds.

General Comments:

I would advise against anyone getting this model of Blazer or any other GM car. This is the most troublesome and most expensive car that I've ever owned. This car has put me in so much debt that it's not even funny.

If you have the money and the time to put into a Blazer, then this truck is for you. I've just recently donated my to charity due to the transmission needing repair.

After twelve years of headaches, I am done. Good riddance!

My new car is Japanese and will be from now on, until GM can show that they can make a car that's worth a damn anymore.

1995 Chevrolet Blazer 4.3 Vortec from North America

Summary:

Typical GM product with poor engineering

Faults:

My sister bought a new Honda SUV and offered her 95 Blazer to me for free. She thought with my back yard mechanic abilities, I could have a decent truck.

This thing has been one nightmare after another, and I'm ready to send it to the wreckers.

Same symptoms as listed by other posters, smell of gas rough idle, bogging down, dying in the middle of the road, and periodic fumes and smoke; so bad a cop following me stopped me and informed I could get $300 worth of fines.

General Comments:

The process of elimination could break me, and I might be better spending it on a new car.

My blazer does the same thing, but nobody can find out what's wrong with it. What was wrong with yours?

Hey man, my Blazer does the same stuff! Someone help us!

1995 Chevrolet Blazer LT from North America

Summary:

A horrible vehicle

Faults:

A/C compressor.

Transmission blew.

Rear wiper.

Power driver seat dead.

One cylinder has no compression.

Burns coolant.

Fuel injector problems on numerous occasions.

Water leaking from rear passenger side door.

General Comments:

This car is the worst car ever. I bought it brand new in 1995. Right now I have 140,000 miles on it and it's dead. There is no compression in one of the cylinders and it was spewing white smoke from the tail pipe.

1995 Chevrolet Blazer LT 4.3 P.O.S from North America

Summary:

Good to have if you like to spend money

Faults:

I've had it for two months. Lets see:

Freeze plug in the block

Transmission seal

Brakes

Exhaust

Serpentine belt

And now after putting less than 100 miles on it, my motor blew!!!

General Comments:

Thought it was a great buy but I was wrong. I knew it needed freeze plug. no big deal. I just got my license so I can drive it, drove it 15.2 miles, floored the gas once and pulled up to the stop sign and my motor was knocking badly. Pulled over, got it towed back home and now its sitting in my driveway. So there goes $3,000 down the drain for a new motor.

Called the guy I bought it from and flipped out a little and he is going to take care of it luckily. My trans. seems like it don't shift right sometimes so I will probably need to rebuild that too. Looks great but runs like a turd.

1995 Chevrolet Blazer LT 4.3 from North America

Faults:

I think just about everyone who has had a older model Blazer with the Vortec motor has had injector problems. I have had fuel pump problems as well.

I have had to change my EGR valve once.

My mom gave it to me, and when she bought it, it had 90,000 on it and never had any big problems except for the injectors.
