1999 Chevrolet Blazer LT 4.3 from UK and Ireland

Faults:

Weather seal went on passenger side around door.

Centre brake light fogs up.

Bonnet vibrates loose.

Front brake disks pads replaced at 12000 miles.

Rear disks and pads replaced at 12500 miles.

More squeaks from the plastics than I expected.

Drivers seat seems to be wearing prematurely.

General Comments:

The car is used as a second form of transport as I work for Vauxhall I always have a company car.

Even with its faults I still enjoy driving the car.

The car handles its weight fairly well considering the suspension design, leaf springs are a little old hat.

1999 Chevrolet Blazer LS 4.3L V6 from North America

Summary:

Never Will I buy a Blazer again!

Faults:

Alternator went out at 67000 Miles.

Severe coolant leak at 70000 Miles.

Intake gasket went out at 85000 miles.

Had to put in a new 4.3L motor when it broke down at 90000 Miles.

Noisy, lots of unidentifiable squeaks and creeks that drive me nuts.

General Comments:

I've had this '99 for 2 years and have had to put over $4000 into it from break downs and Tow charges, I still owe around $6,800 on it so I can't just get rid of it yet. I used to have an old '89 S-10 Blazer that I had for 5 years and only had very minor repairs (less than $100 each) and one alternator go out. I could trust that '89 to drive me across the country. I don't trust this '99 to get me across town!

General Comments:

I wanted a Blazer for a long time I finally bought one and it has cost me more in repairs than another other vehicle I have ever owned. The engine has plenty of power and the four wheel drive gets me where I need to go even in the worst of weather. I would not recommend buying one however. Unless you enjoy having your SUV in the shop more than it is in your garage.

I also bought a 1999 Chevrolet Blazer BRAND NEW. It has been the headache from Mars. I am in the process of trading it off. This vehicle has 77,000 miles on it.

At 2300 miles they had to replace the battery.

At 4300 miles they replaced the starter, which was the REAL problem at 2300 miles.

It has had 6 rocker arms in the interior. A new alternator, new ball joints at 5000 miles, new transfer case, differential, 4 wheel dive and the list goes on.

At 32000 miles, they had to put a new transmission in.

The ONLY time we have NOT had problems was a 10 mile trip we made in 2001. The car then had 42000 miles on it.

Within a few months the car started clattering, new rods and lifters later. The car then had another new transmission, and finally a WHOLE new motor after ONLY going yet another 3000 miles.

Today it was diagnosed with another oil leak, U-Bolt failure, rear brakes and yet another ball joint. I've had enough and of course no help in any form.

I bought a NEW car for the first time and it's been more headaches than my used vehicles.
