1999 Chevrolet Malibu 2.4 twin cam from North America

Summary:

High performance in a small package!

Faults:

This car was bought for my mother. Out of the years we have own this car, we have only had one problem out of it. The brake pads. The brakes work great, they just like to skip when applying them hard.

General Comments:

All in all I love this car. Being a teenage boy, I sometimes take it out racing and I dog it. This car has taken everything I can throw at it. I have raced numerous Honda Civic and messed them up. Raced a few V-6 Mustangs and beat them off the line and at top end. Also beat a turbo charged Volkswagon Jetta. This car as excellent get up and go. I just wish it had a little more top end and didn't give out at 110 when the governor kicks in. I would also like to see the car have better suspension. I few weeks ago, I was racing a Honda Civic and it almost beat me because I had to slow down a lot for this deep curve, if not for the great getup and go power, I would have lost. Not sure how much horsepower it has, but it's got some serious power and you shouldn't lay down on it unless you konw what your doing!!

I recently purchased a 1999 Chevy Malibu base last year, best decision I ever made. I totally agree with you man, it is an amazing little car. I get great gas mileage and I can keep up with most of the other cars on the road. It was nice to read a review about a car that someone actually loved. I love my car, pushing 160,000 it is an amazing car. Great gas mileage (23 in town, 28 highway). I have had little problems with it but this car is a tank, I slid sideways into the curb and the little car survived. I go by the book, if it says I need something then I actually do it. Being a teenager in High school though, this car is absolutely perfect! Great gas mileage, plenty of room, quick little car, great handling (thanks to Uniroyal Tiger Paws) and a cheap insurance rate.

Summary:

Another Bargin from GM

Faults:

Nothing is wrong with this car.

The only thing that could be improved is the suspension, a little bumpy.

General Comments:

It is a very nice car all the way around.

The comfort of the seats is a 10. This car has good sound and is very quite, also the gas mileage is an A+++.

I get around 25 miles to the gallon on the highway and 22 or 23 in city.

The only thing I've done to this car is change oil and put gas in it.

If you want a nice looking car and don't have much money to spend then look at the Chevy Malibu you will not be sorry.

The check engine light came on 3 weeks after I bought the car, and has been on ever since. GM have no idea what's wrong with the car. This car is a nightmare. The above list is just the tip of the iceberg.

General Comments:

The Malibu is a nice looking car and is very comfortable.

I'm scared to take this car out, should it break down and cost me more in repair bills. I rent cars to go on long journeys.

This is the worst car I have ever owned in 18 years of motoring. GM have reset the check engine light 4 times, and within 20 miles it has come back on again. They tell me it's OK as long as it doesn't blink? The car is a time bomb.

I own a 1999 Malibu and was very disturbed when told my fuel loss was the result of a rusted gas tank which needs replacing. I found this hard to believe seeing as how the car has only 100,000 kilometers on it!

Good luck with the gas tank. The cars are so new it's virtually impossible to find a replacement. I drove my Malibu back to the dealer and did a straight trade for a car 9 years older. I lost a bundle in the trade and in repairs, but I feel a whole lot better with the car out of my life.
