1999 Chrysler Concorde Concorde 2.7L from North America

Summary:

I love the style and overall feel of this car

Faults:

Since there are not enough lines to list everything that has gone wrong with my car since purchasing it new, I will just list the most recent things that have the most bearing.

Last year about this time, my car's oil light would come on only briefly whenever I came to a stop sign, or traffic light. When I accelerated, it would go off and stay off. I had the oil sending unit replaced and it seemed to work for a few days, but then it started doing the same thing. I have not had use of my car since July 1, 2008 because the motor eventually locked up from this problem. I am a single mom and cannot afford to replace the engine. I have been driving my son's spare 1998 Dodge truck with over 213,000 miles on it ever since.

General Comments:

I fell in love with this car the minute I saw it. Overall, it has been a great car.

I have taken very good care of this car by replacing things that have worn out. I have kept up with having the oil changed regularly and with general overall maintenance.

I only drive around 5 miles to work one way and back. This is why my car has such low mileage for the year. My car has only been on one long trip, to New Jersey and back.

I feel my car should have lasted more than 74,000 miles. My car is at a facility to be fixed. My mileage on it could be even less than this. I rounded it off.

1999 Chrysler Concorde LXi 2.7 from North America

Summary:

Good looking comfortable family car

Faults:

Nothing.

General Comments:

Bought this car as a beater to go back and forth to work. It had 295000 kms. on it. I have had this car for a little over a year and have not had 1 problem with it.

I have been reading all the other surveys with the bad reviews of the 2.7, and all I can think is luck of the draw. I have put 20000 kms on this car, and if the motor blew tomorrow, I wouldn't care but I would miss the car.

Great ride, handling, space, quiet, styling, all around good car.

1999 Chrysler Concorde LXI 3.2 from North America

Summary:

A beautifully sculptured car with an exceptional ride

Faults:

Electrical problems from the beginning.

Automatic door locks have been repaired several times.

There is a red light on the top of the dash that flashes when the alarm is on that runs down the battery when the car sits for several weeks at a time.

There have been engine sensors that have gone bad repeatedly, causing the engine to surge.

Poly-carbon plastic headlight covers and hood deflector trim ages rapidly.

Front lower air dam is too low to the ground to clear many driveways.

A cooling system hose blew on the highway requiring over three thousand dollars of repairs just after the extended warranty expired.

General Comments:

The car is a great drive, good performance, exceptionally comfortable for long trips, excellent gas mileage averages 28 mpg.

Tried the new 300C and found this car to be more comfortable both in front and especially the back seats.

1999 Chrysler Concorde LXi 3.2 Liter from North America

Summary:

I like it very much

Faults:

Battery needed to be replaced at 72,000 miles. It was the original.

General Comments:

This car does not like city driving in the wintertime. Going by the onboard computer, that gives 12-14 mpg. The highway is a different story. I hear people bragging about their Civics getting 33mpg, that's what I get. And I'm not sitting with my knees jammed under my chin. We just drove it from Pennsylvania to Arizona. The only preparation I did was to change the oil and the air filter. No problems whatsoever.

I had to spend a few bucks when I bought it - new front tires, the door speakers were blown. But that was factored into the price I paid.

And it sure does go off the line. I like letting the kids in their noisy Hondas get to the other side of the intersection before I even go. It's hilarious to see their expressions (if I was looking *wink wink*) when this Dad-mobile passes them!
