1999 Daewoo Matiz SD from India - Comments

"Ultimate car safety and mileage"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Nothing.I had a Matiz-SD Model of 2000,which I used upto 1,65,000 Kms.,but there was no problem and it is one of the best cars I would like to own.And last year I sold that and bought another second-hand Matiz Model-1999 which was in good condition.

Just three days ago I met with an accident with a Maruti-Suzuki Alto which dashed straight onto co-driver side, but nobody was hurt.If I was in another car it was sure to be a fatal accident, but Daewoo MATIZ saved me.

General comments?

Lucky it was a tinny Suzuki that hit you! Nothing substantial. I know the Matiz is economical - but I wouldn't call it safe! Look at the results on Euro NCAP safety ratings!

Euro ncap performance ratings for the matiz put it at a 3 star car. A good deal better than a suzuki alto, hyundai atoz or fiat seicento! For a 1998 designed car it is, to quote ncap "a commendable result".

I would suggest you research and clarify facts in your own mind before posting in the future

Wow 165 k on the odo and no reliability problems? I would say very commendable. I also own a 2000 matiz with 45k on the clock and no problems so far. fuel economy is the singular point for the matiz I get 18 to 22 kmpl in city highway respectively. however pick up with ac is BAD. comfort, stability, handling are above average for a small car. inside space is like that of a bigger car.
