Summary:

An economical car, easy to drive, with great pick-up

General Comments:

We have owned the car for five months now and are pleased with the vehicle.

The performance is excellent. It will run up to 128 miles per hour with little effort. I have driven the car many miles and find that it likes to run about 90 miles per hour.

The car's fuel mileage is also very good. At ninety miles per hour, the car gets 30 miles per gallon. On a recent trip we were able to get 38.5 miles per gallon out of the car. I have owned a LeMans in the past, and the best fuel mileage was 39 miles per gallon (with my wife driving). In town, the Nubira mileage is about 24 miles per gallon. Overall the fuel mileage has been consistently higher than the suggested fuel consumption.

The interior is nice enough, but, the seats are not very comfortable. My teenage daughter states that the back seats are also firm.

Summary:

This was my last Daewoo

Faults:

Power-steering pump broke down. This already after 1200 km.

Leak in transmission, was fixed in warranty, but who will pay the stones at my house?

Airconditioning was empty of gas already after half a year. Leak fixed in warranty, but gas NOT in warranty.

The car drinks a lot of gasoline. About 13 liters on 100km. Dealer say this is normal. Worst is that the car is still very slow.

General Comments:

This car is of bad quality.

This car drinks too much.

I love my Daewoo Racer. The only problem I had with it, was that the power steering system was leaking after 10 years. I had it repaired and now I am happy with it!

Summary:

Good for the price, but no cigar!

Faults:

Air con controls no longer illuminated (bulb?)

Safety recall for fuel line and filter.

General Comments:

As an A to B car, the Nubira makes a lot of sense. It has lots of equipment, a strong (if noisy) 2.0 engine and, with free servicing for 3 yrs, comes with peace of mind.

Although it performs well (0-60 in 8.8 seconds), the Nubira is not even close to being fun to drive. The suspension is soggy with extreme body roll, and the overlight steering has way too much assistance which dulls feedback. It doesn't even ride very well, with motorway expansion joints and sunken manholes sending crashes into the cabin.

Push it too hard into a corner and it will understeer strongly, with no driver interaction. Those brought up with any half decent European car will immediately notice the difference.

The engine is torquey and responsive but intrusively noisy over 4,000 RPM. It's also thirsty, averaging little better than 25 mpg with town use, and 30 mpg on a run.

Dealer service is superb! Not that the car has needed much attention. The 10k service was carried out in an hour while I waited, and that has been it!

Summary:

As economy wagons go, it's hard to beat the Nubira

Faults:

The only problem thus far with my Nubira CDX Wagon has been the indicator light for the airbag, which comes on and stays on for some inexplicable reason at random intervals. The problem was purportedly fixed during a routine service appointment, but it has since begun to occur again.

During my last visit to the dealership where I bought the car, the light was not on and the service manager said that the mechanic could not find the source of the problem. Though hardly a serious issue, the indicator light is in my line of sight and one of those glitches in a new car that is both annoying and a sign of technical problems.

General Comments:

As with others who have written reviews here, I have found the gas mileage to be less than what was advertised. As my last car was a 1997 Ford Escort sedan, I have definitely noticed the increasing cost of driving my Nubira Wagon.

The cargo capacity is terrific.

The sound system works well.

The plastic bar that houses the cover for the cargo area is a bit awkward to remove if one is opting for maximum capacity by putting the seats down and removing this bar.

Because I am tall, I appreciate the headroom in Nubira -- a feature lacking in just about every other economy wagon.
