If you have one get rid of it As Soon As Possible, before it's too late.

My '99 Intrepid ES: Bought brand new Oct. '99.

10k miles- Headlight burned out, Front passenger window failed. Back to dealer.

15k miles- Left rear window failed, Engine dies, won't start. Back to the dealer on a flatbed.

20k miles- Drivers window fails, Trans. stuck in 1st gear. Back on a towtruck again.

21k miles- "Trac lock" and "ABS" lights lit. Back to dealer. Not fixed.

21k miles to present- Trac & ABS lights come on, brake pedal surges and rises. Has happened 40+ times since 21k

(all recorded and documented) and been back to three different dealers 8 times w/o results. All have said they fixed it (every time), or could not witness the problem. One mechanic drove it for a week!

Been back to the dealer for 3 major recalls.

Radio cuts out when it's cold in the car.

Headlight relay clicks, lights flash.

Trunk lid lift arms have failed.

Serpentine belt went (shredded) at 35k miles.

Car has eaten 3 sets of tires.

And...at 39k miles the tranny went. Exactly 2 weeks AFTER the extended 5yr/100k warranty expired! $3200.00.

Now have a rattle under the dash that's impossible to get to.

By the way, the odo turned 38k miles today...

1999 Dodge Intrepid LX 2.7 from North America

Summary:

This is the worst car made. It's like buying a Kia; one of the first ones

Faults:

The first thing I took it in for was my car rocked back and forth when the car was at an incline, but the dealer would not do anything about it; he said if it breaks down, then bring it in.

Another thing of the many things that went wrong, was the thermostat gaskets started leaking at 15,000, then 30,000, and now 100,000. That's too many times if you ask me.

My mirror control switch failed at about 30,000.

My brakes warped at about 30,000.

At 45,000 my transmission wouldn't shift, and my speedometer stopped working due to a speed sensor that went bad. According to the mechanic, this happens all the time on these cars.

My lights flicker every once in a while.

Also another problem that's been happening since I got it. Once every 3 months, the engine will knock hard, then stop. Never could get it to do it for the dealer though.

I have replaced the radiator fans twice because of failure; once at 65,000, and then at 100,000. I did the second one myself; the dealer wasn't going to take me again.

At 75,000 my front end squeaks. Dealers says I need lower control arms.. Forget that..

At 80,000 my starter went out. Also at the same time, my driver's side windows went out.

I can keep going, but it would never end. I will never buy another Dodge, and say the same thing to everybody else out there... I say lawsuit!!!

I know all the ins and outs of this car. Anybody want to email me, feel free jugglerbme@aol.com

General Comments:

The car looks great, but that's it. It has cost me just as much in fixing it as what I am paying for it.
