2000 Dodge Intrepid review from North America
"One of the nicest cars I've ever owned"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Had to replace two door latches, drivers door and left rear passenger door. They both would make a loud "buzzing" noise when locking, and at times I was unable to open the door either with the key or key-less entry remote.
Check engine light came on, found right bank O2 sensor went bad. The new O2 sensor went bad two hours after it had been replaced, but the sensors had a warranty so the second one involved no added expense.
Slow coolant leak, had to replace the upper housing on the engine.
General comments?
So far, other than the above mentioned problems, this has been a great car. The ride is exceptional, gas mileage with the 2.7 is good, 29 Highway, 22 City. Plenty of power, the quad headlights are the best, should be standard on every car made today.
After reading the other problems associated with the 2.7 motor, I questioned the service manager at my dealership, regarding the sludge build-up and engines gone bad. He told me if you service the car regularly, according to the schedule, you'll have no problems.
