2000 Dodge Intrepid review from North America
"Great value - very reliable"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The car had an early water pump problem (around 60,000 miles).
The weather stripping around the door was not fit properly from the outset, but I never had it repaired. This causes some issues in trying to maintain cabin comfort.
The headlamps fogged inside even they are supposedly sealed. This has degraded the visibility somewhat.
General comments?
This car is outstanding for its price range (purchased new for around $19,000).
I have put over 185,000 miles on it with no major repairs. During that time I have monitored gas mileage and it has remained at or near 29 MPG (highway) for the life of the vehicle.
I started using a bit of oil at around 120,000, but nothing serious.
The interior has held up well, but was never very glamorous to begin with.
The power is substandard, but it cruises well at higher speeds.
If you are seeking a good value and you are the type of person who thinks of a car as an appliance, not an investment or status symbol, then this vehicle fits the bill very well.
