2001 Dodge Neon SE / ES 2.0 4 cylinder from North America

Summary:

This car is an awesome, sporty, fast car that is very reliable and cheap to drive

Faults:

Oil pan bolts needed tightened.

Tie Rod snapped and needed replaced.

Trunk seal leaks a little.

Middle brake light burned out.

Front door speakers blown (both)

General Comments:

I bought this car used. Paid 2500 for it and I am very satisfied with it.

It is a quick car, gets good gas mileage, and is really fun to drive.

Looks sharp when it is all washed and waxed. The stock alloy rims really shine too.

If I knew that all of Dodges cars were going to be as reliable as this one, I would probably buy from them for the rest of my life. I strongly recommend that if you are looking for a used car, to buy this car if possible.

2001 Dodge Neon SE 2.0 SOHC from North America

Summary:

Good for it's size and price

Faults:

Nothing really. Other than the occasional flat tire from those horrible West Texas road.

General Comments:

I have had this car for almost 4 years now. The last year it has been driven very little since I am doing a one year tour overseas. But has far as performance, for its size and engine type, has great acceleration and runs very well over long distances. City gas mileage wasn't the best. But highway was easily well over 30MPG. It's good for day to day use and for long trips. Trunk size is small though.

Summary:

Very reliable

Faults:

The only problem I had with this vehicle was I had to replace the battery.

General Comments:

The car is very good on gas and has been a very dependable vehicle.

The car may not go very fast up hills, but it makes for a very comfortable car for a long trip.

I have enjoyed my 2001 Dodge Neon SE and would buy one in the future.

2001 Dodge Neon SE 130 HP 4 cylinder. from North America

Summary:

Great little car for the money!

Faults:

Honestly, I have not had any real problems with this car. The only thing I could mention is the not-so-great sunroof. It is VERY rare to find a sunroof on a Neon, so I'm willing to let this slide, but it doesn't work as well as it should. It's pretty much a "manual" sunroof... you have to give it a little push with your free hand as you hit the button to get it to slide open correctly. I thought this was bad until I did a little research and found out that all Neon sunroofs are like that because, for safety reason, Dodge uses a glass that is too heavy for the sunroof motor. This is just to make sure it doesn't shatter when the car flips. So, the sunroof is not good, but I'm willing to overlook it.

General Comments:

I always have and will always buy Neon's. My first car was a '95 Neon and if you read that review, you will know why. This car is great. Great gas mileage, great looks, great sound system. I did not get the power windows and lock because I didn't want to have to replace the motors eventually and I think this is better. I'm also glad Dodge still gives you the option, too, because a lot of companies don't anymore. It is a very cute little sporty car and the only things I can complain about are the sunroof (above) and the comfort. Just like in my '95 2-door, the backseat feels like you are riding on a wood plank and hurts a little when you hit bumps. Otherwise, I would recommend this car to anyone and everyone... especially shorties like me (I'm 5'2) because it is the perfect size all around :)

2001 Dodge Neon R/T from North America

Summary:

You get what you pay for

Faults:

The clutch had to be replaced before 12,000 due to mfg defect.

The Timing belt Tensioner had to be replaced at 33k miles and again at 73k miles. This results in 1200 dollars in other repairs.

The brakes squeal horribly when its wet out, a huge problem in NY.

The factory installed battery deteriorated at 36K miles.

General Comments:

I loved this car when I first bought it.

However, with all of its problems I would not buy another Chrysler product, as they do not stand behind the quality of their product. Their biggest guarantee per part is 10k, less than a year of driving. In my opinion Chrysler products are only good for 10k miles.
