1995 Eagle Talon ESI 2.0 from North America

Summary:

Awesome

Faults:

Cruise control switch broke.

Alternator went out 4 months after I got it.

Door handles broke on a regular basis.

Sucked up water thanks to my cold air intake I had on it. Didn't do a thing to the motor.

The differential went in the transmission after 15k miles of my ownership. Replaced with one from a parts car.

The alternator relay went with wear from my subs and amp, and that's about it. Didn't cost me much, including regular maintenance, maybe $1000 dollars with do it yourself work.

It left me sitting twice due to heater hoses blowing, but that's it. I beat it every day of its life that I owned it.

General Comments:

Loved it. Handles great with bad suspension. Wasn't the fastest, but quick for an automatic 4cyl.

Seat were alright, but on a bumpy road, mine made me have to take a leak every 10 minutes.

It will catch all 4 gears if done right, and doesn't kick into 4th gear till 100mph.

Change your oil with quality synthetic oil, and she will take it, except the trannys kinda suck for the auto Chryslers; ride, comfort, slipping transmissions from the factory.

1995 Eagle Talon TSI AWD 2.0 from North America

Summary:

Performance and reliability

Faults:

After a couple years the ABS light came on, dealer said it was the computer and would be expensive to replace. I didn't bother and the light turned off after a month or 2. Light has come on briefly since but always shuts off on its own. ABS doesn't work when the light is on.

Passenger door lock somehow fell into the door, easy fix.

Power sunroof is a little touchy every once in a while.

At about 70k the starter would grind, broken tooth or 2.

Clutch wore out at about 140k.

At about 140k I had the only breakdown, a pulley broke. It sounded awful but it still moved enough to get me to a shop.

At about 150k the stock stereo started cutting out and eventually wouldn't put any sound out.

After I ran wiper fluid completely dry last winter and then refilled it, the fluid light stays on.

Driver's seat edge is starting to fray and so are the rubber pedal covers.

Engine isn't as powerful as it used to be and burns a little oil.

General Comments:

I've been driving this for over 12 years, from a recent grad and now have a baby seat in the back. It's been great and is still fun to drive. Used to drive it harder than I do now but it still has power. I've been good about keeping it maintained, synthetic oil every 4k miles or so, a couple timing belts and water pumps, brake jobs, plugs and wires. Have found a great shop and seem to spend about 1000 a year on maintenance. Lots cheaper than a car payment.

Seems like the guys driving these tend to be kids who mod. Mine is almost entirely stock and is super reliable. Hate to get rid of it but it's almost time.

1995 Eagle Talon TSi AWD from North America

Summary:

I do not know

Faults:

Timing is off. Took it to a dealer, they put all new timing parts, ran 11 miles then timing got thrown off again. What is wrong and what should I do?

General Comments:

Only got to drive it 11 miles, not much experience with it.

Sounds like the dealer screwed you.

They obviously did the job wrong. Bring the car back there, and make them DO IT RIGHT!

1995 Eagle Talon ESi 2.0L DOHV 16v from North America

Summary:

This is a reliable, economic car with a sporty look and handling

Faults:

The instrument cluster had to be re-wired. It's not expensive but it took a long time.

The airbag cover on the dash is starting to raise.

My suspension was about shot when I got it.

General Comments:

This car has great response if you know how to drive it.

The bucket seats in the cabin are very comfy.

However the back seat doesn't have a whole lot of leg room.
