2000 Ford Focus SE Sony Edition from North America

Summary:

This car is not fit to be on the road

Faults:

My transmission has had 4 major transmission problems. They have changed the throw-out bearing and they have had to replace the clutch spring. The transmission is still very hard to shift and makes a terrible noise when the clutch petal is released.

The car has had a severe vibration since I bought the car. The cars tires have to be balanced at least once every two weeks in order to keep it from shaking too much. The tires were so badly feathered at 20,000 miles that they had to be replaced.

The brakes, front and back, have had to be replaced. Within 3 days of replacing the front rotors, they had to be resurfaced.

The most recent problem on the car is that the front nose piece is separating from the rest of the car causing handling problems, and it makes an awful noise when driving down the road because it is hitting the tires.

General Comments:

This car is high maintenance. It is very unpredictable.

2000 Ford Focus SE from North America

Summary:

The worst car known to man

Faults:

Since, I have had my car I have gotten in it twice only to find it would not start. This was within a week of each other. Both of the times the dealer told me that the clutch switch was bad and had to be replaced. Since then I now have to force my car to shift into third gear.

The car now cuts off when I make a right turn and occasionally it shuts off when I am driving down the street. The service representative, who by the way was the manager originally, lied to me when I took it in the second time and informed me that it was a different part that had to be replaced. However when I received the invoice and realized that the same part number had been ordered, he then explained that the original part was defective.

General Comments:

This car is absolutely the worst car that I have ever driven. I did not appreciate having been lied to and definitely not having to be without my car for four days with no loaner car.

2000 Ford Focus SE 2.0 Zetec from North America

Summary:

Pretty unsure - might be great, may be horrible

Faults:

Keyless remote stopped working.

Driver's side rear door will not open or unlock, either electronically or manually.

Power locks do not work.

General Comments:

I have only had this car for a few days. The keyless remote worked fine and so did the doors and power locks, until I washed the car. Now my driver's rear door will not unlock or open at all. The power lock button does nothing and neither does the keyless remote.

I have had a 2000 Focus SE since last July, and I am very happy with it. I have never had any trouble with door locks icing up after a car wash etc.

Only once something very minor went wrong, which has to do with my size: I am a little over 5'1", and when closing the trunk I have to reach up very high in order to get proper leverage. Therefore the trunk was not closed completely and the warning light on the panel remained on which drove me nuts until I had the car checked by my dealer. We had a good laugh, and ever since then I make sure that the trunk lid comes down with a good slam!

I have had my 2000 Ford Focus SE for about one month. I have come across the problem where the driver side rear door will not open and the alarm as well sometimes will not work. I would recommend this vehicle to someone who just wants to lug around. If you need to do some major driving this is not the car for you. The acceleration is horrible which you could expect from a 4 cylinder anyway. All in all it is not an expensive car and it is worth the money.
