1999 Ford Taurus SE review from North America
"Great dependable vehicle"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Only 2 problems in 9 years:
Rear struts @ 30k, but covered by warranty.
Left side tie rod at 55k caused a squeak or groan while turning at low speeds.
Changed the oil and antifreeze as required, and have had no problems.
General comments?
Great reliability!
Very quiet and firm handling.
I rent a lot of new intermediate size vehicles like the Toyota Corolla on business travel, and always look forward to getting back into my full size Taurus. Even at 9 years old it's still better handling, smoother and more responsive than most new mid sized cars, and yes, that includes Toyota, Mazda, and Honda!
