Engine blew after 100,000 but still got me home. Rebuilt for $450.
The transmission gave out after getting me home. Rebuilt for $250.
The convertible top needed to be replaced for $200.
This car has never left me stranded.
It does not have much speed for pickup, but once it picks up speed it cruises. It does not like hills.
It is fun to drive and looks cute.
It is very inexpensive to run and repair. Does require regular tuneups and oil changes to run forever.
This is such a great little car that I bought another one for my grandaughter's first car. She wanted mine.
Oh, yeah they're great cars all right... unless you get in a collision with anything other than a bicycle...
I have a 91 geo convertible. It is problem free and cute as a button. Does not like going uphill, the 3 cyls
do their best, though. On the flats, this baby can cruise along just fine.. I get 48-50 mpg and my only snag is that it takes a friend to help me latch up the top. Great little cheap and cheerful car. I may sell it (I am currently lusting over a vintage Karmann Ghia Convertible) but I hate to part with such a sweet car that has never given me any trouble. Even after months in the garage, it starts right up and purrs like a kitten. It has been a fabulous investment.
A friend was sitting at a light in her GEO behind another car.
She was rear ended by another vehicle. Air bag deployed and the car was totaled. She was wearing her seat belt and walked out of the car without a scratch on her. Side impact would be a different matter.
Result: She bought another Geo, I bought my daughter a Geo, my Wife is on her second Geo and I have a 91 'vert. Watch out, drive carefully and get up to 50mpg!
